Incredible way to play! 01/12/2014
This review is from: NVIDIA NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit Model 942-11431-0007-001
MIND BLOWN by some games!!!
Incredibly immersive experience compared to 2D!
Well worth the investment!
Once you adjust, IT IS A COMPLETELY NEW AND DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE!
You cannot have light sources, such as lamps, on behind you while you use the glasses. This is because the large lenses are very reflective and will cause significant eye strain as a result of the harsh reflections of light on the glass. This is a slight issue with my particular setup, since my PC doubles as my living room entertainment center and we have two lamps that must remain off when I’m using this kit.
Not compatible with all games, but nothing’s perfect, and this isn't necessarily the fault of NVIDIA or the glasses.
Not too big of a deal, but…the glasses use IR to communicate with the emitter wirelessly, and this interacts with my Media Center remote control emitter. While I didn’t notice any difference or interference during gameplay, I did notice the activity light on my Media Center remote emitter was either flashing or constantly lit.
I paired this NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 kit with the ASUS VG248QE, and the result is PHENOMENAL! I had read all the reviews, and expected to have to adjust to the new visual experience a bit before being able to fully enjoy it. Don’t expect to be able to just install and “hit the screen running” with this kit. There was a slight learning curve involved with training my eyes to properly focus on the individual objects being rendered, instead of simply focusing on the single depth of the screen itself, but once that is achieved, the experience quickly becomes incredible! Just give yourself a few days or so, it is well worth it! Be sure to adjust the 3D depth to really see your content gain 3D realism! One more thing to keep in mind is that NVIDIA’s control panel also has a checkbox to enable the additional 3D hotkeys. This unlocks a few features, including the ability to adjust the convergence (the overlay of the two images); some games really benefit from slightly adjusting this setting. NOTE: It is very easy to adjust the convergence far too much one way or the other, but this can just as easily be corrected or reset.
Once you allow yourself some time to adjust to the new, and MUCH BETTER way of seeing you content, NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 is the key to a much more immersive experience! So far, I have been absolutely blown away by Just Cause 2, Batman: Arkham Origins (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are just as great in 3D), and Crysis 2 while using this kit! With my beast of a rig, I even play Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag with everything, including all DX11 features, maxed out while in 3D, and it has great potential. The only thing holding AC4 back is the current inability to fully disable shadows (they don’t render properly in 3D :( ). I also use PowerDVD 12 Ultra to view Blu-rays, videos, pictures, and YouTube in stereoscopic 3D!
After my experience with this kit, I definitely plan to play every game possible in full stereoscopic 3D from now on; the difference is just that awesome!
