2nd RMA, losing faith. 01/17/2014
Fast...when it's not being RMA'd. I previously gave this laptop a 5 star rating, which I am reducing to 1 star to even out. Read my horror story to find out why.
This laptop worked great for a few weeks. Other than the aforementioned trackpad issues, I really had no qualms. That is, until my screen mysteriously vanished and went completely white. I called MSI and they immediately requested that I RMA it. Okay, that sucks, but whatever. I need this for work and I need it working.
They recommend you insure your package, and seeing this is an expensive laptop, I put insurance on it for that amount. Great, I'm out $64 to ship a 5 week old laptop back to the manufacturer.
They give me an estimated time frame of 15-25 business days, which I am NOT happy about. Again, I use this for work. However, to their credit, they repaired and dropped it back in the mail within 4 business days of receiving it, which I was happy about.
Fast forward to a week after receiving my laptop back from MSI, I get a SSD failure. GREAT. I have to RMA it AGAIN to MSI.
To be honest, I got so fed up with this that I put it on a shelf and didn't look at it for 2 months. Who has the time for this bologne? Certainly not me.
I finally get a moment to send an online request for assistance. After 2 weeks of no response, I finally just called, and they requested that I RMA it again. Greeeeat. This time I didn't ship my charger to them (they request that you send EVERYTHING back with it), which saved me $10 on the shipping cost, but still ran me $54. So $118 in shipping later, I've been able to use this laptop for about 6 weeks total since I purchased on release day.
What. A. Joke.
It's unfortunate, because I really enjoy using this laptop when it works. But I don't have the time to constantly RMA this thing. It's been dead longer than its been working, and thats pathetic.
