Does What It's Supposed To 01/20/2014
This review is from: Saunders Lumbar Traction Deluxe Hometrac System
Has an easy to use pump if both or your arms work (mine do). The gauge gives accurate feedback.
It is comfortable enough for me.
The means of getting strapped into it work well.
None that I've noticed.
I bought the Saunders Lumbar Traction device to provide traction at home to treat lumbar pain, on the advice of my physical therapist. The theory for this kind of traction is the same theory that drives people to inversion tables. I chose this device because it's easier to do the following:
1. Graduate the pressure. The gauge does a good job of giving feedback about how much pressure is being applied. I've increased and decreased the max pressure for a session.
2. The blood won't rush to my head. I thought I'd read while in the device, but that didn't work for me. I found in my case, I did better when the pressure was applied and then relieved cyclically. This means I'm constantly pumping up the device, holding for a few seconds, and releasing the pressure. My hands are always on the pump, so it's hard to read that way.
3. As I mentioned in point 2, you can give yourself a traction profile easily. I put the pressure on, then off, then on, then off - maybe 15 or 20 times in a session. The freedom to change the type, duration, frequency, and strength of the traction makes this device fantastically flexible in the way it can apply treatment.
About me as a reviewer. I'm a mechanical design engineer with a high level of knowledge for designing devices. This one is done well. I have persistent back pain. I don't know if this device will help fix it or not, but I'm trying it anyway.
Lastly, thanks Newegg for being a fantastic store.
