Meh, good NAS... but don't expect much past that 02/07/2014
This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS 104 (RN10400-100NAS) Diskless System Network Storage
For the price (I paid ~$300) it is a good NAS solution. Plug everything in and it works. Good construction, easy to set up raid (with X-RAID).
Everything else :-( Every app on this this is faulty.
CPU sucks, please spend the extra $$ to buy the 3XX series so you can get a decent CPU (if you still decide to buy a ReadyNAS)
ReadyDLNA sucks, half the time it doesn't index your files well and you have to do it manually.
Turns out there are USB issues on the latest version. It won't recognize the USB drive that I attached to it, so had to mount it via the commandline.
All the Ready products don't work well (ReadyCloud, ReadyDrop, etc...)
My goal with this was to set up a private cloud solution. I am almost there, but it hasn't been easy. I don't recommend any of the cloud solutions from their app store.
Good luck if you want to do anything else other than set up a network drive with this bad bay. NetGear does not make it easy.
We're glad you think the RN10400 is a good NAS solution and that it's generally working well for you.
We would like to look into the issues that you're having with the apps and "Ready" products. Please email us at email@example.com with as many details as you can about the problems you're seeing, and we'll be happy to help.
