Bad audio jack with bad customer service 02/07/2014
Computer it self runs great. Exactly what i expected from the specs specified. I am quite pleased with how quick my games run. I can not tell any difference between running it on this laptop or my desktop. With that being said it is also very light for the power it packs. Very easy to bring on travel with me which is the primary purpose of it.
The ports are terrible. From day one i have had problems with the USB ports. They will recognize that a usb device has been connected but will not power it on or allow it to be used. For example i have to connect my mouse 3 to 4 times each time before it will power it on and actually let me used the mouse. Also the Audio port was not built properly. I received a pair of MSI headphones with the purchase and used them for the first time and something went wrong. As i was inserting the jack into the audio port i heard it click in a way that didnt sound good. When i tried to remove the headset it would not come unstuck. After twisting and wrestling with it the entire port came out and the audio jack on the headset was bent just slight enough that it would not remove. I called customer service to ask about it and the warranty. I received no actual help and was also accused of not knowing how to plug in a simple headset and that the damage was clearly caused by my own actions. I was very kind over the phone even though i was accused of breaking a product. I have never known any product to have an entire audio port come right out of the socket like this. Also I could hardly be expected to leave the headset stuck in their for the rest of the time i own this laptop. It was bought with the purpose of transporting around. I cant transport it with a huge headset hanging from it.
I would recommend this product to others if this was a isolated indecent but with no help from the customer support and this being the only MSI i have ever gotten this is all i have to go off. I would highly recommend people to stick to other brands with better customer support or products that last longer than a week.
