Great APU 02/08/2014
This review is from: AMD A8-5600K - A-Series APU Trinity Quad-Core 3.6GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W AMD Radeon HD 7560D Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic - AD560KWOHJBOX
Pros:
A quad-core for under $100 with a integrated GPU that can actually play modern games.
The onboard graphics in this processor plays every game I have tried. It can't max out all the settings, but it can definitely play games on medium settings. Even Battlefield 4 can be played with this processor.
I was able to overclock this processor to 4.2GHz. The best part is that I was able to leave the power saving features enabled, so when the processor is idle it sips the electricity.
Cons:
The biggest con I have with this processor is definitely the heatsink that comes with it. It is very cheap. It gets the job done at stock clock speeds, but it is a little loud.
Also, this processor is a little picky with RAM. I could not get any G.Skill RAM to work properly with it. I switched to Corsair RAM with the same ratings and the Corsair worked without any problem.
Overall Review:
Spend a little extra and get 1866MHz RAM. The performance of the graphics are noticeably improved when using the faster RAM.
I tested with 1333, 1600, and 1866. Each time I increased the RAM speed the framerates in games was noticeably higher.
