I bought two of the 100-base and one of these gigabits. It looks and operates exactly like the others but this is gigabit. It's really the only 8 port Gigabit switch I know of that's being made right now. It takes half an amp or more, depending on how many devices plugged in (use a blue USB power tester), so just make sure you're powering it well enough. A USB power tester will go a long way. I also liked the look of this, because I just wanted an extra switch for my desktop. Why others make desktop switches this size with all the lights on the cable side, like a rack mount unit, is beyond me.
Not made in the USA.
I say, if you just need an unmanaged 8 port gigabit switch, why not go cheap and low power?
