Needs a fan, a bigger heatsink, or both. 02/16/2014
This review is from: EVGA GeForce 210 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Low Profile Ready Video Card 01G-P3-1313-KR
Pros:
I recently installed this on my rapidly aging HTPC which wasn't cutting it with its original integrated geforce 6150se chip. Worked great for a few hours or so.
Cons:
After a few hours the screen started to artifact and stutter, then died completely.
Overall Review:
I like my HTPC quiet so I was attracted to the fanless design, but as other reviews have stated the sink appears way too small to disperse the heat without a significant amount of airflow. If you need a fan blowing on a sink in order for it properly operate, it's not really fanless is it?
Two stars because I feel responsible for the poor airflow in my case.
Manufacturer Response:
"Hello EVGA customer,
With any fanless design, case airflow is required and this card is designed to take full advantage of a normal level of ambient air movement from case fans. However, there may be other concerns here. What temperature did the card reach? Usually, if these cards are below the 85-90c area, they shouldn't experience any thermal issues.
