Equivalent in performance to a 4770 while being less expensive.
All the typical Xeon features such as ECC support, virtualization technology.
Idle temp is low compared to other processors I've owned, just 15-20 Fahrenheit above ambient room temperature.
New AVX instruction set made a noticeable difference in transcoding times.
Intel's integrated HD graphics are still behind AMD's current "budget" offerings. IGPU Linux support did exist but game performance was far below win7's. This is not Intel's fault IMO and it may change in the future, just stating my experience with games and openCL benchmarks.
Not the best $/performance choice for homelabs, thanks to having only 4 physical cores but I needed another Intel box.
The stock HS and fan combo is completely capable at cooling duties while the CPU is under a full load. However while doing so it becomes loud enough to to be a distraction in a quiet room.
