Used it for 65 inch Sony 02/19/2014
Setup is straighforward if you have done this before. Not even even sure a "Tech KNowledge rating is necesary. This mount is being used to support my 65 inch SONY TV. So far so good. Easy to use, nice tilt, sturdy construction. Comes with all the necessary bolts. Comes with a level (do not rely on this level).
If you are a newbie, then my suggestion is to visualize this arrangement first, pre-drill ALL holes and of course, if possible ensure that you hit at least 4 studs behind your dry wall. If this is not possible - read the other reviews for tips on mounting either on concrete walls or using anchors. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! Do not skip this information especially if you are unsure of the load bearing capability of the intended wall that will hold up your TV.
The level included may not be accurate so please do yourself a favor and either buy or borrow a level to ensure that you have a fairly level TV mount, mounted on the wall. I have read reviews where the mount level was not accurate. Also, when bolting the arms on the TV, set the 15 degree angle first before mounting the TV to the mounting bracket. It is somewhat difficult to adjust the lever for the tilt with the TV on the mount. Not impossible, but a person with extremely thick arms may have difficulty reaching back there - a football player for example.
The locking mechanism is also a bit challenging to secure with the TV mounted on the wall. With 2 or more people it can be accomplished.
I also had trouble securing the tiny bar for the locking mechanism. I was unable to send that bar straight through. My suggestion s to lock it in place while the tv is flat against the wall IF you are a perfectionist and wish to ensure that it fits properly. I placed this bar as far as it can go (which is what will happen if you are alone and had initially set the TV at 15 degree angle).
My TV has been on the wall for over 3 weeks now and all seems well. Bought this mount on sale one year ago. Now I got the chance to use it.
