This review is from: NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router (R7000)
Warrentee if you use only their firmware
Directly from their support:
I apologize but even though it says that it supports Opensource, it is still a third party software.

NETGEAR products are covered by a limited liability warranty from defects in material and workmanship. This warranty does not apply if, in the judgement of NETGEAR, the product fails due to damage from shipment, handling, storage, accident, abuse or misuse, or if it has been used or maintained in a manner not conforming to the product's instructions, has been modified in any way, or has a defaced or removed serial number.
Repair by anyone other than NETGEAR or an approved agent voids this warranty.
Uploading a third party software somehow is modifying the router in a way.
So if you want to run DD-WRT, OpenWRT Tomato or any of the other frimwares out there, look elseware!
Also all Linux based OS will not Name Resolve you must use their IP address.
Hi SOHO IT,
We want to reassure you that we stand behind the R7000 and want you to be happy with it as much as possible. Due to the fact that DD-WRT and other open source firmware builds are third party software, it is a "flash at your own risk" scenario. You can refer to the MyOpenRouter.com website if you have questions about flashing firmware and safe usage with the R7000. Thousands of users have downloaded and enjoy the DD-WRT software on their R7000, but again, it is not covered under the official warranty.
We hope that the R7000 is working well for you and you can get in touch with us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org. We're here to help!
