5 out of 5 eggs Great bargain, excellent performer 02/21/2014

This review is from: AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor FD8320FRHKBOX

Pros:

We all knows the pro's

Cons:

And the con's

Other Thoughts:

What you really want to read is what I use this CPU for. My PC is constantly being used in some form or fashion. I'm usually transcoding 1080p high bit rate bluray rips to DVD, downloading torrents, mining for bitcoins, and using my PC as a real time transcoding server that outputs video via Apple's Air Play to my televisions. Often these tasks all run simultaneously - it's taxing on the CPU and the fan does get a little loud, but it keeps up! So with all that said, if you're a guy like me who's always putting your rig to serious work you'll find this processor an excellent solution AND bargain.

And now to the fellow who claims the "pins melted into his motherboard". That's a ridiculous statement. If true, you'd be the FIRST person EVER to have the gold contact pins melt. 18K plated gold (which is used for the contact pins) has a melting point of 1700 degrees F. Most CPU's overheat and fry around 100C (or ~200F). So do you really expect anyone to believe that your CPU hit a temperature of 1700F? An incredible claim. I'd love to see a photo.
