This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS 102 2-Bay Network Attached Storage Diskless (RN10200)
Pros:
I'm a IT profession and like Netgear products and there is alot to like about this unit.
This product has a lot of feature that make it very desirable. I actually like the NAS a lot when it is up and running. You can setup backups, remote access, support various protocols. Just a very good Network Storage Unit in general.
Cons:
The idea of having a NAS and RAID is that you don't loss data. Well I have had my unit 6 months now with 3 power outages and every time I get a blinking blue light. Hook it to a Unix box and says partition is corrupt. Windows has no idea how to deal with the drives. Netgear has several recovery process, but none work. All 3 times I would of loss my data if I didn't have backups.
I'm really disappoint in Netgear on this one. I get a update on the NAS about once a month and they still have not fixed the issue.
Overall Review:
I have a very expensive paper weight now. I can not trust this unit. If they can fix the issue with power outage / partition corruption. I would love this unit. But as it stands I would never by it again.
