your basic router. 03/07/2014
Its a nice looking router, pretty simple. the lights are not too bright, and you can turn them off if you want. it comes with a installation cd.
the linksys setup program is very simple and easy to use. most people will not need a "computer guru" to setup this router in their home.
comes with a very cheaply made cat5e ethernet cable.
This router does not have hanging notches on the bottom, so you cannot mount it on a wall.
No USB ports.
Wifi is pretty weak. I switched routers while my younger brother was at school, he has his steam library installed on our NAS drive. about ten minutes after he got home, he told me his computer was acting funny. i walked around with my phone and watched as the further away i got the signal got weaker. i got disconnected while playing starcraft2, which was upsetting. usually when i am sitting in my truck outside i have 3 out of 5 bars, but with this EA2700, i got only one bar.
i have a pretty nice wireless printer, its a brother and its down in the basement. my printer could not see the wireless network.
i had no problems in my office using a wired ethernet connection, however wireless strength got much weaker if i was more than 3 rooms away.
My home is not terribly big, its only about 2000 square foot. This router might be ok for a small apartment where there is only a few rooms and few walls. but for a medium to large home, you need a router with a stronger wireless signal.
I have used A Lot of different routers, and in my opinion, this router is over priced. i think a fair price for a router that has these basic features, and this level of wifi strength should be closer to $35.
