simple easy to use router not for the techie 03/10/2014
Easy setting up the router with CD , simple easy to use firmware layout with icons makes changing settings in the router, could not be simpler.
Super fast wan internet upload speeds. stable connected to multiple devices wireless and wired wile running full HD video to 6 out of the 9 devices, 2 iPhone , 2 iPad. Acer netbook, IBM laptop. 3 desktops, super fast connection load speeds with Netflix and amaz-n HD video streams, see other thoughts
not enough room

i must say since i set up this router it has not failed or even stuttered once and even though its range and speed is not the best. we had no issues at all. In fact i was amazed, streaming video was instant. no download progress bar with Netflix or a-azon instant HD video. i click a HD video to watch and it comes up instantly and Netflix icons loaded the fastest i ever seen aside from using a non consumer pro router. also even though the speedtest.net speeds are not the best everything just worked and with out delay or issue and seemed fast, from browsing the internet to HD videos. no problems at all. i could see using this router as a set it up and forget it router in a small residence
Not the fasting routing performance. not the best wireless range and performance. setting it up using the CD froze the first time, see other thoughts does not show in firmware what device is on what ghz, 2.4 or 5ghz just shows what wireless devices are connected, not an extensive firmware as the higher end routers have. this is a set it and forget it wireless router and a compatibility issue in windows 8.1 64bit that will most likely be fixed with a update.
This is my first wireless router under $100 and my first to use icons in the firmware settings this can be very helpful to some one that's new at setting up a router, the icons make it easy navigating around the firmware and changing settings. though the firmware is lacking and does not have the settings of a higher end router. though you can turn the lights on or off.
the CD install disk makes setting up this router very simple. just follow the onscreen prompts and in a few minutes you finishes, it will choose wireless name for you and passwords, also if you prefer you can choose your own wireless name and passwords.
Using a 3 month new windows 8.1 64bit desktop Intel computer with all windows updates installed and newest drivers with on motherboard intel nic to set this router up, i decided to use the CD. very simple so why not. ok i followed the prompts and copied the passwords that it gave me for wireless and the router, then the last step was it was setting up the router and gave a percentage bar that froze at 85% i waited 15 minutes then tried closing down the setup but could not force it close windows reported it was unresponsive . i restated the computer and ran the setup CD again went thru all the steps then again it paused but this time it said the modem needed to be unplugged for 2 minutes then plugged back in before the setup could continue.i followed its instructions and "Walla" set up complete.
next went around house connecting everything i could to this router wirelessly. 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, 2 laptops and 3 desktop computers.
Everything worked as should not one problem all connecting the first try and working. first thing i did using the wired windows 8 desktop computer was go to speedtest.net i ran the test a few times to be sure. now i have 125mbps down and 35mbps up cable modem internet speed. this is the slowest download speed router i ever used though fast enough for most people at 110mbps, its the first out of 34 wireless routers to not do at least 120mbps down. though its upload speeds are the fastest at 43mbps
i took my iPad and my iPhone and both laptops as far as i could to the other end of house about 25-30 feet away from the router then started streaming HD video with optimum apps on the iPads and iPhones and the laptops.
All devices are streaming HD video no problem, then i opened front door stepped out side with iPad and lost connection. :-/
iphone5, 25 feet 3 walls 28.mbps down 27.up
iPhone5, 10 feet no wall 40.mbps down 26.mbpd up
ipad3, 25 feet 3 walls 19,mbps down 19mbps up
ipas3, 10f no wall 20.mbps down 26.mbps up
this results are about 2/3 of the speed of my higher end router and distance is 1/3 of higher end router
the 2 year old netbook would not connect at n speeds only 54mbps
a older IBM laptop with a usb wireless adapter did connect at n speeds
though both ran fine running hd video no issues with internet.
Netflix videos started the fastes
