SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 270X DirectX 11.2 100364TXSR 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5
  • 1 x DVI-I, 1 x DVI-D 1 x HDMI 1 x DisplayPort
  • 1280 Stream Processors
  • PCI Express 3.0 x16

Pros:

This card is ideal for a build I am starting. A mining rig with style, no milk crate for me!

Its a very appealing card, and it runs cool. The fans are hardly noticeable until you get past 50%.

I have this card mining in my garage at a nice and cool 50C at 50% fan.

Comes with a custom backplate, actually a very nice one. So take $30 off the price for that. This is a trend I would like to see more of with higher end video cards.

Believe me, the backplate makes a difference in temps.

Cons:

Price and availability, I could have picked a more readily available card and modded it. This is why I did not purchase at the egg, has not been in stock for quite some time.
In terms of performance alone, it is a bit overpriced.

Length- it is easily over 12 inches long. Not a problem for me but just be aware. The fan/heatsink adds a couple of inches to the board.

Other Thoughts:

I am currently mining with this card at 460kH/s. Efforts to push higher have been unsuccessful but I have not tried any BIOS mods.
I can mine at Intensity of 17, any higher results in hardware errors.

But as a gaming card, it is superior to my HD 6950's. One of which I BIOS modded to HD 6970, that card mines at 480-490 kH/s all day.

For mining I would look at much less expensive cards to acheive the same results.
