Great cooler! 04/02/2014
This review is from: Noctua NH-U14S, Premium CPU Cooler with NF-A15 140mm Fan (Brown)
Pros:
It's heavy for it's overall size. Mounting was a breeze and the overall performance is better than my 120mm liquid cooler. 24-32C at idle and 43C at max load with a 4th gen i7.
It's quiet as a whisper for it's size, I hear my 200mm fans over this. It clears high profile RAM without overlapping.
Cons:
There is only one major one but it is mostly for LGA 1150 motherboards with the top slot being PCIe 1x it does overlap slightly (at least with A maximus VI Hero) where if you use a card ther it will push against it slightly, can be fixed with electrical tape on the soldered points of your card but just a warning. Noctua's site read it was compatible however it touches the card so be forewarned. To my knowledge the NH-U12S doesn't have this issue but it isn't quite as good, still would be good for an i5 or a lower watt chip. Haswell just runs hotter than most chips.
Overall Review:
I wish Noctua would make some different colored fans but I guess it's branding. Not too big of an issue for me and their fans are the best so they shouldn't need to be replaced unless you want to lose performance. I wish they would make 200mm fans, I'd kill for a 200mm version of the fan included with this, just a suggestion.
