Seagate 3TB drive 04/08/2014
This review is from: Seagate Desktop HDD ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Pros:
Had two ext4 partitions on this drive 1Tb+2TB.
Running fine for a year - a power off for extended two week vecation killed -power up and its dead now ,zed. dead.
First I was still accessing it and was able to fsck twice - but all data was pretty much lost. while i was smart enough not to put my mission critical on this , this drive is a waste. waste of money, waste of data - what we call in EMC DL.
The device is currently recognized by an linux only temporarily , then disappears , so the issue is not data but its controller/circuit board, though while its still up ubuntu disk app will report some 80K bad blocks...which is bad
So in one one - dont buy this drive even on a 90bucks black-friday deal. add 20 and get WD or Hitachi.
Cons:
lasted a year.
