Overall Review:

This is an update to my previous glowing review of this board. I bought 2 of these boards, and 1 of 2 was DOA. Newegg handled the RMA, but it cost me over $12.00 in shipping and restocking costs for 1 lb. mini-itx board! That made the cost of one of these builds significantly higher. When I finally got the second motherboard replaced and ran Prime 95 on both to burn in, I found temperatures with the stock heatsink and fan to be 65-70 C at idle and between 95 and 105 C (Maximum for CPU) during Prime 95 testing. This is not acceptable. I have seen other reviews stating the same problem with this board. Most resolve it with a new northbridge cooler and some thermal paste, but this shouldn't be an additional expense you have to spend on a brand new system! So now in addition to the return fees, I have to dole out the cost for a new cooler and fan for each CPU and thermal paste, adding another $15+ to each build. If I don't do this, they will likely fry the CPU in a very short period of time. I really don't understand why ECS cannot properly protect the CPU on these motherboards from the factory! I mean they are supposed to put these together to run for at least the length of their 3 year warranty, right? IThey are either skimping on the paste, or it is the low-speed (like a toy) fan they have on top of the heat sink. By the time I add in these additional costs, I could have bought a more expensive motherboard that would not give me these problems. If you spend the money to buy paste and a new cooler, these boards will probably be ok. But why should you have to spend the money in the first place?
