5 out of 5 eggs Chinoiserie... 06/01/2014

This review is from: VANTEC HDA-250M 2.5" to 3.5" Mounting Kit

Pros:

I bought it via one of my client's account (I'm not a "verified owner"). And I will need it for another build. It works, it's in metal and it's black.

Cons:

It works when using the provided screws : DON'T LOOSE THEM! Which was the case of my client when the time to build his PC came about : I had to drill new holes so as to use standard screws.

Overall Review:

We should NOT have to drill holes in computer parts like this (even IKEA understands this)! That's what happens when manufacturers are "used" to an environment willfully ignoring regulations and standardizations : LAZINESS while most of the brain is switched to "off"... Don't take the time to verify if it fits with standards, throw it on the market and wait for incomes since some monopoly stance behind will guarantee revenues anyways... Which is really bad when it's a manufacturer selling its guyzmo to other companies who put their names on it (Vantec and Bytecc offer the exact same and non-standard drilled mounting kit).

Unfortunately there's no other manufacturer of such kit it seems : I'll soon require such bracket for a Samsung SSD 840 EVO, however the Bytecc bracket-125 has holes that don't fit from what I've read. Thus I will be obliged to buy another Vantec and make sure not to loose the screws.. (( On another matter, here we have a perfect example of why Globalization driven by wanna-be monopolistic companies/bankers is a VERY BAD thing for humanity and its evolution, as it eliminates the choice to make things better and which fit with standards : who cares when you're the only one manufacturer without competition? Such financial globalization = communism)).

On the bright side of it, that piece of metal made me write and practice my English... ;-P
