Excellent heatsink. loud fan. 06/29/2014
This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
(though it was a TIGHT fit in my case)
The only ~ONLY~ con I have is with the included fan. I don't know if it's just a bad (malfunctioning) fan. but it has a very loud whine if I run it above 45%. I wound up swapping the CM fan out for a Corsair SP120 QE fan.
I bought this for a build I'm planning. I got bored and put it in my current AMD A8-3870 pc, replacing the stock cooler. I've never installed an aftermarket cooler before, and I had no trouble installing. After installing a Corsair SP120 QE fan on the heatsink. I saw my temps drop by atleast 6C. With the stock cooler I was idling between 36 and 39. Now I've yet to go above 30C, and that's with the fan running at 30% power. Haven't measured gaming temps yet, though I'm sure they'll be lower than what I was seeing with the stock cooler.
If you're looking for an affordable air cooler, THIS is the one to get, but I would recommend changing out the fan.
