ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 07/07/2014
Very good looking board with a good color scheme
very solid company to deal with
Very competitive price for a budget to mid range build
Every port you could want even M.2. card support and has Killer NIC
Not really a con but does not have SLI support... at this price point most people are not looking to SLI anyway.
If I was nit picking I would have to mention the fan header placement like other have mentioned but it wasn't a problem for me because I use a fan controller
So my first thoughts of this board is it feels very solid for what I thought was going to be a budget board. My second thoughts were it looks pretty sweet especially if you are looking to do the very popular red and black theme. I have always trusted Asrock and had the Z77 Fatal1ty with a 2600k for about 2 years and was happy with it. This board reminds me of that one just a little newer with a smoother bios. Over clocking is easy and I OCed a 4770k to 4.6 GHz stable with this board. I also put a GTX 780 Classified and I was maxing out BF4 @ 1440p. Most people that buy this board probably aren't in the price range of the hardware I put in it but it was a very good test of what this board can do. You throw a 200 dollar CPU and a 300 dollar GPU and 8GB of memory in this board and you are gaming like a champ. I did test an HD 7950 and a R9 290x separately with this board and they both worked flawlessly. The onboard sound is about average as most are and everything else just worked. So bottom line is if your are building a low to mid range single GPU rig this motherboard is definitely worth a look. In fact you would be hard pressed to find a better board for the price.
