Intel NUC 11/26/2014
This review is from: Intel BOXDN2820FYKH0 Mini / Booksize Barebone System
Pros:
Small form factor and run all 1080p videos no problem at all. Great for XBMC/MCE. It uses 2.5" SSD/HDD, cheaper storage solution than mSATA Intel NUC. No overheat issue to me.
Cons:
Problem with Windows installation. Instruction on Intel website does not work. Problem with system time and system won't turn off on OpenELEC, it just hangs. Read other thoughts.
Overall Review:
All my hardware have no problem but I had a bunch of BSOD while installing Windows 7/8 on this NUC. I am tired of trying, luckily I happened to have a spare SSD with Win7 on it, I just plugged it in, then it loaded no problem and I have been using this little thing to watch streaming videos, no problem so far. However, this PC seems no battery onboard so once you turn it off completely, you need to adjust clock next time you turn it back on. Not a problem to me since I don't really care as long as I can watch videos. I have 2 more i3 NUC, this is by far the cheapest and most difficult thing to work with, I am pretty sure I won't buy a second unit. Hope Intel can release another cheap and improved NUC.
