ASRock ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Fatal1ty X99M Killer LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Intel X99
  • Core i7 (LGA2011-v3)
  • DDR4 3000+(OC) / 2933+(OC) / 2800(OC) / 2400(OC) / 2133 / 1866 / 1600 / 1333 / 1066

Pros:

- Clean Aesthetic Design
- Plenty of SATA Ports
- Quality Construction
- Ultra M2 Port
- Killer Ethernet Port
- Dedicated Mouse Port
- HDD Saver Port
- Long 3 year warranty

At first when I saw the picture of this motherboard I thought it looked really boring but when I got to see it in person I knew I was extremely wrong. The pictures do not do the board justice. The Sapphire Black PCB is a deep dark contrast to the metallic blood read heatsinks. The picture makes the heatsinks look bland and bright red which in reality they have that nice metallic shimmer and are a darker blood red. It's very professional looking in person, don't be fooled. this tiny board remarkably had 10 SATA port on it for a ton of storage options, in addition to the Ultra M2 port if you choose to use for another storage space. The integrated Killer Ethernet port is a big plus to this unit as it prioritizes network traffic for gaming. The dedicated mouse port is great for adjust mouse sensitivity for mice that do not have adjustable settings as well. What I thought is really cool is the HDD Saver port on the board. Not only will it allow for a clean looking HDD hook up because the wires terminate right there it also allows you to turn on and turn off hard drives without unplugging anything. This can be useful for putting less wear and tear on your hard drives that don't need to be on all the time and also provide extra security for the same reason.

The BIOs for this board are easy to navigate and well thought out. The GUI makes using them a breeze and there are a bunch of options for all user levels.

The packaging for this use was pretty standard, the included case badge looks professional and classy and is a nice touch.

Cons:

- Not all PCI-Express ports are 3.0
- Less RAM slots versus Standard ATX 2011-v3 boards

A negative to this board is that not all of the PCI-E slots are 3.0 or full speed. This causes an issue if you want to try to SLI/Crossfire 3 slot or oversized video cards. The bottom PCI-E slot is the 2.0 port and according to the documentation can only work with PCI-E x4 cards. This means a video card can be placed into this slot even though it will physically fit into it.

Because this board is a Micro ATX size they had to reduce the number of Ram slots for this board. That is a downer but it can still support up to 64 GB in total. This just means you would need to spend more for high capacity RAM.

Overall Review:

I've worked with AsRock boards for my last 5 builds and I've never had an issue with them. Some people have this perception that AsRock is not a good board but I challenge that opinion. I've seen nothing but quality from them
