MSI X99S Gaming 7 06/18/2015
This review is from: MSI MSI Gaming X99S Gaming 7 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros:
Installed 2x8Gb ddr4-2400 Ballistix sticks in slots 1 & 5, along with an i7-5820k cpu, cooler and the graphics card. Fired it up and voilà! booted with no hesitation. Installed the needed drivers. The SSD that was used had win8.1 and this is the fourth time using a different MB and not changing anything in the SSD and each time the system booted into windows activated automatically with no problems. The only problem that I ran into was unable to remove the z97 chipset drivers. But I found an online driver remove free software and that helped loading the x99 drivers. So far the MB works flawlessly. Having been an Asus user for a long long time, MSI for a change has got my attention. Very happy with this MB. Just as a note, please do not install the killer package. Install only the driver part. Although the MB was working fine with the factory Bios, I went and upgraded to the latest. Definitely a keeper.
Cons:
None
Overall Review:
Don't understand why so called techies (High tech level) get defective motherboards all the time. They screw up the MB by tweaking the wrong voltages and eventually either messing up the memory slots or cpu slots and blaming MSI or any other manufacturer for making bad boards. Read the manual and FAQ's before passing lousy comments.
