A8N-SLI requires NEW BOIS CHIP 03/18/2006
This review is from: ASUS A8N-SLI 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS has a reputation of highend, high quality boards. Their Tech Support was quite good, in that I was able to talk with a Tech TWICE without ever waiting more than 10 minutes on the phone.
The board's BIOS that ships with the A8N-SLI (version UAYZ, which is the non-premium board version) will NOT work with the latest AMD 939 processors (I bought the Item# 19-103-535 CPU AMD|ATHLON 64 3200). The board simply won't POST. You must call ASUS and they'll send you a REPLACEMENT BIOS chip!!! This of course means you'll be DOA for a week after getting your new board.
NewEgg should alert everyone about this issue within the main text of this board's description. It's a heartbreak to waste 10 hours tracking down why the board won't POST. Only to learn it's a known issue that requires a replacement chip!!!
