This review is from: Canon ZR800 Silver 2.7"LCD 35X Optical Zoom Digital Camcorder

Great picture quality for the money, simple to use, pretty good feature set for an entry level camera, mic input works great, firewire transfer is effortless to use with windows movie maker. Practically does everything for you.

Batteries don't last very long. This camera uses the same battery as my canon S50 digital camera. I had 2 extra batteries for that and the wall charger so that was a plesant surprise and a good thing becuase you get about an hour and 15~20 minutes worth of recording time from a full charge battery using the little flip out screen. I'm sure it'd be more with the screen closed.

The low light video mode isn't fluid and smooth the way the other modes are.. it's sort of stuttery and lags a bit but I rarely will be using this in very low light areas.

No firewire cable included. That would have been nice.

Other Thoughts:

I use this to record our band. An external mic was a must but I was shocked at how well the internal mic handles business... quite good actually.

If you want high quality audio capture, use an external mic as the internal mic has a hard time coping with fast transitions from very quiet to very loud volumes. It will auto adjust the internal mic's recording level so as to not overload the mic and crackle. I use a decent condenser mic going into a studio projects VTB1 mic preamp and then send that out to the camera's mic input. It's working very well recording our band so far. I'm very pleased and for the money, I couldn't have done any better. Oh and free camera bag F T W!
