This review is from: AMD Opteron 185 - Opteron Denmark Dual-Core 2.6 GHz Socket 939 110W Processor - OSA185CDBOX
Pros:
Speed, of course.
Cons:
May not be fully supported by your BIOS. Without Cool'n'Quiet, it idled at 49C in my system. After hacking a bit to enable C'n'Q, it now idles at 34C. It was a fair bit of trouble to figure that out.
Overall Review:
This replaced an X2 3800+ on an Asus A8V-Deluxe. The latest BIOS doesn't support Cool'n'Quiet for this Opteron, so I had to hack my ACPI DSDT to add it in. Most likely there would be no problem with an Opteron 180 or lower, but the 185 was just too new and S939 boards aren't getting updates any more. Asus didn't reply at all to my support request regarding a newer BIOS.
