Works great

ASRock ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Fatal1ty Z97 Killer LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Does everything I need it to except wake on lan (see below). Posted first time, even with memory not explicitly on the compatability list.

Cons: Though the on-board NIC hardware supports Wake On Lan (WOL), the linux driver for the chip does not. (See bug 61651 at bugzilla dot kernel dot org). Another minor issue: The firmware options for what to do on power is lost then restored are to either power on or power off. My old board had a third option which was to restore to the last state.

Short life

MyDigitalSSD 128GB Super Cache 2 42mm SATA III (6G) M.2 2242 NGFF SSD with FNet HybriDisk Cache Software - MDM242-SC2-128

Pros: When it's working, it operates as expected. I put this into a Thinkpad W540.

Cons: First one died in about 5 weeks; laptop wouldn't even recognize it as a drive. RMA'd no problem. Crossing my fingers that the second will not quit on me, too. Also, no TRIM support.

No problem

ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler
ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks neat. Big. Works as advertised. Fits 1150 sockets, even though they are not listed on the package; uses the same holes as the 1155/1156. No memory or case clearance issues on an ASRock Fatal!ty Killer Z97 in an Antec 300 case. Installed over a 4790K processor, not that that matters. Others have reported that the brackets and screws didn't fit properly, but I had no problems with it.

Cons: As other have pointed out, it can be a little tough to install. Specifically, it's a bit tricky to get the screws lined up and started.

Overall Review: This was my first install of an aftermarket cooler. I elected not to use the optional adhesive pad to hold the backing plate to the motherboard. Instead, I hung the case half off my desk so that I could hold the backing plate in place with my hand while aligning the screws with my other hand.

Does what it's supposed to do

Rosewill RCDC-14017 - 3-Foot White Mini DisplayPort to DVI Cable - 32 AWG, Male to Male
Rosewill RCDC-14017 - 3-Foot White Mini DisplayPort to DVI Cable - 32 AWG, Male to Male

Pros: Used to connect a monitor with DVI input to the mini-DP on my ThinkPad W540.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Note that the DVI end of the cable is male; it plugs directly into the DVI port on your monitor. I don't know why I assumed it would be a female end into which I could connect a standard DVI cable between this adapter and the monitor. Not an issue as long as the 3 ft. length is sufficient for you.

Works well

AT&T CL82309 1.9 GHz Digital DECT 6.0 3X Handsets Cordless Phone Integrated Answering Machine

Pros: I like that the system has voicemail indicators for phone company voicemail, in addition to the built-in answering system. (The phone knows you have voicemail by the stutter dial tone.) There is a voicemail light on the base and indicator icons on each handset.

Cons: None so far.

Can't forward to broadcast address

Linksys E2000 Wireless Router Selectable Dual Band Gigabit 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4/5GHz up to 300Mbps
Linksys E2000 Wireless Router Selectable Dual Band Gigabit 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4/5GHz up to 300Mbps

Pros: 21 hours from order to delivery. Thanks Newegg!

Cons: You CAN NOT set up port forwarding to the broadcast address (to do wake on lan, for example). The web interface will prevent you from specifying x.x.x.255 as a destination IP. On older Linksys routers, you could get around this by disabling JavaScript on the port forwarding page, but that does not work on the E2000 because the value is checked on the back end. Furthermore, using a different subnet and broadcast address (255.255.255.128/x.x.x.127) is accepted, but packets are not broadcast to the network.

Overall Review: I'm going to try flashing dd-wrt firmware onto the router, as I need wake on lan.
