Pros: Its an 88gt...if you dont know the pros by now you arent that big in the PC world, so here they are
-Will run (almost) every game released before this year at max settings
-Is a monster
-BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IN GFX HISTORY!
There never was, and probably will not be, another card like this. I got this card because i KNEW it would last years, and it did.
Titles from this year are finally making the 88GT show its age: finally skyrim, first game i've had to turn NOT to max in ages, it plays at high/med settings
My card finally died this year, after nearly 4 years of hardcore use, overclocking, you name it, i did it. And EVGA is replacing it. Lifetime warranty, they stand behind it
Cons: None? I honestly have had this card for near on half a decade and have not found one negative about it in all this time. Is it bad that it runs EVERY GAME for the past 4 years at max settings? Is it bad that I am too spoiled now and used to this in a card?
Honestly the only negative is the stock cooler (for whatever reason, i still haven't replaced it): it is 1 slot, so it does save space, but also doesn't vent heat as well. Also gets LOUD when the fans turned up high; i dont mean loud as in rock concert, but a loud, high pitched whirring type noise.
I guess the con is that it died, after 4 years, on Xmas morning? Is that really a con, 4 years of use and the card dies, or is that a pro, that the card lasts 4 years?
Other Thoughts: I dont see why everyones complaining about registering for the warranty. "oh sneaky trick by evga", what is in ANY WAY sneaky about this? IT IS WRITTEN ALL OVER THE BOX, THE SITE, EVERYWHERE you might come across, it lets you know.
Even installing everything for the card, it reminds you: Don't forget to register your product to activate your lifetime warranty!
If you cant take the 10 seconds to register the 300$ piece of hardware you just purchased, and give them your email, to ensure that it'll be protected till YOU (not the card) decide to get rid of it, you kinda deserve it.
Spam or not, I've got a lifetime warranty, and EVGA STANDS BY IT! EVGA is sending me a replacement card this coming weeks (because of holidays).
EVGA HONORS THEIR WARRANTY, IF YOU HOLD UP YOUR END OF THE BARGAIN! Totally worth it, i'm getting a new 8800GT 4 years later, all because i took the 30 seconds to register the thing.
REGISTER PARTS FOR WARRANTIES! Its NOT only evga that asks t
