This review is from: D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
Pros: great router when working properly, need to setup when using with verizon fios actiontec router.
support ps3 and laptop decently with wireless connection. also great customer support. they guide me through the setup and i was happy after that, no more dropping connetions
Cons: this does not work out from the box as of you need some tech skills, the first week i got it the router works for a few days, after 3 ps3 was connected playing call of duty mw3 also with laptops connected to it wirelessly the router began to act up,
lag spike like crazy and also very glitchy conections.
then all of a sudden it decide to drop all connections to a halt, would have to reboot router to get it workiing again, i left it sitting collecting dust for a good 2 month then decide to use it again but this time i called customer support to get some help.
Other Thoughts: i use this router to extend my lan connections from third floor actiontec verizon router to 2nd floor, hard wire ps3 to router, i would not reccomend gaming console for this router when using wireless. laptops and smart phone connect just fine but dont expect full speed out of the router when using wirelessREAD FULL REVIEW
This review is from: HAWKING HSB2 Hi-Gain WiFi Signal Booster
Pros: i have verizon fios internet, with actiontec router,
with 3 laptops, 2 desktops, 4 ps3, 1 xbox, and 6 cell phones all on wireless. i was in need for a better signal,
signal would jump from 30-70% on the router.
i decided to buy this as of the reviews on new egg,
and magically i was getting signal range from 70-90%.
i have to access the router and scan through the channels and finally found channel 8 to be the best channel. i have notice the higher the channel the better the signal gets but also with interferance of other rf signals. router is place in the attic of a 2 floor home, so far so good. my laptop from 1st foor gets 1.5mb of download speed from bitorrent, it was a big wow for me as of able to get for what you pay for montly for the internet. i recommend this to anyone who experienced week signal off the verizon router
Cons: with this booster alone you need to access your router and scan through the signal to get the best of it.
the lower the channel the less signal it produced, at least this is what i am seing on my ps3 and laptop,
channel 10-11 would give me a range from 85-100% signal from the attic to first floor but with alot of inteferance, channel 1-6 was 30-65% very unstable,
then channel 7,8,9 i get a good stable signal of 70-90%
Pros: wow price went up fast and i just order it last week,
anyway its running quiet, i only got 1.81 tb of space
but what can i say, its cheap and it runs
now i have more storage space.
have an extra sata cable cuz this one doesnt come with it
Cons: setup was hard as i cant find a way to go into dos mode in win7 to patch so i ignore that.
went to disk management and could not initialize.
so what i did is i boot up win7 setup from a cd
then when it ask what drive you want to install
i select the samsung drive as it said unalocated i just click on new and format. then abort the install, go into windows and you will see the drive in my computer
Other Thoughts: as some had said it died for a few months, whiches i only use it for my media files all my important files are in the main drive
as of i dont want to lose any of my data but i can lose my media.this is a good storage for anyone who want to move all there media too but hey it cheap and it work
