Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Steel structure with molded ABS plastic accent pieces ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: For a mid-tower, it's pretty spacious with a lot of room to grow.
- 6 bay areas
- 4 optical areas
- 4 fans (large 200mm fan)
- Great air support
- Cable hiding support
- Nice front I/O interface for fan control, 3.0 USB, etc.
- Great deal on price compared to some of the other cases in the same price range
- Corsair: 5/5 top notch support

Cons: - Some of the chords for the I/O board are a bit short, making the cable hiding somewhat stretched
- My I/O board connector was DOA, this seems to be a rather common issue. (More below).
- The instruction book that it came with is vague and not very helpful. The screws weren't labeled and as not an expert PC builder, it did go for some confusion.

I/O Board = The I/O board at the top worked for the major functions, just not the fan control. The annoying part is that because it was completely dead, it meant the other fans wouldn't work, unless they were plugged directly into the mobo. To be honest though, the case is so well ventilated that you don't really need the 200mm running unless you are seriously powerhousing. I plugged it straight into the mobo for the time being.

Other Thoughts: It's a great case, even with the DOA I/O board piece, I'd still highly recommend the case for anyone who doesn't want a full-sized sky scraper tower.

Corsair: Top notch support. I was on the phone with them for maybe 5 minutes while we troubleshot the I/O board issue, figuring out if it was the fan or the I/O board. The tech was incredibly pleasant and determined it was the I/O portion. After apologizing for the experience, we submitted a ticket. Literally 3 minutes after submitting the ticket, I got an e-mail saying it was accepted and within 5 minutes I got a shipping notice and a tracking number. They also notified me, there was no need to mail anything back and all I had to do was wait for the product to show up. Great customer service, I think other companies could learn a thing or two from them.

Rosewill RNX-AC1200PCE, Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 867Mbps(5.0GHz) + 300Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI-E Interface
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Overall great little product, far superior to the little USB plug-in adapters that get no range.
- Great antennas (comes with a stand that has a 3ft chord, you can also just screw the antenna straight into the card back, if you don't want to run it. But, I would suggest using the stand, especially if your desktop is jammed underneath a desk).
- Integrated heatsink on it (red brash color looks cool)
- Manages a good connection (other people seem to have a few issues on this, my house isn't too large but the antenna's that it comes with are fairly large, so I maintain a solid fast connection both on 5.0 and 2.4 ghz)
- Takes a 1-pin PCI-E which is likely free as long as you didn't get a sound card or something

Cons: It was a rough start getting this thing running. I had to hall my desktop into the living room to hard plug in my router to get the setup, as the provided disc drivers weren't doing anything...Turns out its kinda picky on its PCI-E slot, so after swapping it, it worked fine.
- Drivers were a pain
- Initial setup was a pain

Other Thoughts: I chose to get this because I got the Z97-Pro without the Wireless AC adapter built in, as it was roughly 50-60$ more expensive. It's better to get a dedicated card, that has a lot better range (the antenna's really help). Plus the Z97-Pro has some extra slots, so for 20 bucks cheaper, I got the dedicated card with the better antennas. Overall great choice I think.

A couple people complained about DOA, which I'm sure a few of them probably were but it's more likely due to user error. As far as weak connections that some people complained about, it's really hard to play the who's fault is it game. As with any network, it could easily be the routers fault, distance fault, or a hundred other factors. Just one thing to take into consideration. Plus a lot of people plug these things in and never update their drivers to it and they never update the firmware on their routers, which can cause compatibility issues.

CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Great deal on Black Friday (under 100). It comes in a felt bag with extra cables both 8 and 6 pin, extra SATA cables, and some other various older 4 pin cable and cable adapters. Makes you feel like a king! Worked straight out of the box, the fan is really quite on it so even when the box gets hot (which it doesn't) you can't hear the thing. The 750 size is great for those gamers/productive individuals out there who want to expand and not have to worry about upgrading their PSU further down the line.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Corsair is a great company. Dealing with their RMA process on another product, its a total of a 10 minute process, they trouble shoot for you, the ticket for you, and within 15 minutes they are shipping something to your house. Great company to deal with.
