Assimilated by Nvidia

ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5
ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5

Pros: Very quiet. No coil whine. Blazing performance in real world gaming. 5760x1080 capable.

Cons: I can't afford two.

Overall Review: Went from 2x7870 crossfire setup to a single 970 card. Benchmarks are showing slightly slower speeds with the 970 but to be honest I don't see it gaming. What I do see is richer graphics and what I don't hear is fans howling under load. I was just tired of constantly fighting with Catalyst drivers to make things work and so far playing FC4 and Alien Isolation as examples, the experience with the 970 has been awesome.

800W? Yea Right

COOLMAX ZU Series ZU-800B 800 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
COOLMAX ZU Series ZU-800B 800 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: It powers up my PC. It's modular.

Cons: It can't even supply 300W. It's junk.

Overall Review: So I went cheap I admit it and paid the price. It didn't last 3 months before shutting down my PC when any load was put on it. When I did a reboot my MB, an ASUS Z97-AR would warn about a surge in the PSU. So I changed the PSU and this time I went with a high end Corsair HX850i and using the link software I monitored the power usage when I played a game. 300w was what I was consuming. The Coolmax isn't worth the headache and it most definitely wasn't coming even close to the advertised rating of 800w.

Obihai OBi200

Obihai OBi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP
Obihai OBi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP

Pros: Simple to configure. Clear calling. Transparent to the end user.

Cons: Advanced user interface a little difficult to navigate.

Overall Review: I have a 120Mps connection so bandwidth use I can't comment on. Using the quick start booklet that came with the device, I had my regular home phone using a Google voice number I got a little while back in about 5 minutes. Adding to that, the Obihai worked with the international dialing feature of Google voice without a hitch allowing me to call Germany and the UK for only 0.01 cent a minute to a land-line. Free calls to the US and super cheap calls to Europe? What is there not to like.

It Works

Azio Vision Backlit Wired Large Print Keyboard – 4X Larger Comfortable Quiet Keys , 3 Interchangeable Backlight Colours | Multimedia Hotkey Controls, long 5ft USB cord, haptic feedback (KB505U) Black
Azio Vision Backlit Wired Large Print Keyboard – 4X Larger Comfortable Quiet Keys , 3 Interchangeable Backlight Colours | Multimedia Hotkey Controls, long 5ft USB cord, haptic feedback (KB505U) Black

Pros: Seems well built. Aesthetically pleasing. Solid feel to the keys.

Cons: Lights don't go out when I power off my PC.

Overall Review: My MS Keyboard of over 8 years finally gave out so I got this keyboard because of the backlight to match my blinged rig and to help my old eyes because of the oversized letters. My initial impression is that the keyboard is sturdy, made of reasonably good quality materials and the keys seem responsive to my gorilla hands. If I get a year out of this, I will consider this a good deal. Time will tell.

Sony Xperia ZL C6506 Black 4G LTE Quad-Core 1.5 GHz 16GB Unlocked Cell Phone
Sony Xperia ZL C6506 Black 4G LTE Quad-Core 1.5 GHz 16GB Unlocked Cell Phone

Pros: The Swiss army knife of phones. Beautiful display. Comfortable to hold. Fast quad core processor. 4.4.2 Kit Kat.

Cons: Weird battery issue out of the box (resolved). Thumbprint magnet.

Overall Review: Really nice phone that supports pretty much any GSM network out of the box including LTE. The setup to get on T-Mobiles network took less than 5 minutes. Initially the phone had 4.2.1 and I was worried when I saw the battery life sink like a stone with very little use. However it was less than a few hours of use that I was notified of a new system update by Sony that took the phone to 4.4.2 Kit Kat. After the update, the battery life seemed to more than double and now I can easily use the phone all day with about a 3rd battery left by the late evening. The phone has an almost edge to edge display which is amazing and in my personal opinion it's way more comfortable to hold and use than the Z, though it's not waterproof which may be an issue to some. Sony is a bit of a dark horse in the phone arena but look at the reviews out there and you'll see they hold their own easily against the big names like Samsung and Apple in all areas. If you are shopping for a top tier phone with solid build quality, performance and isn't locked into one network, give this phone a once over. You won't be disappointed.

The Beast of Cases

CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window
CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock with Side Panel Window

Pros: Enormous. Fits everything and then some. Good quality. Well thought out. Looks Great.

Cons: Heavy. Wrong Instruction manual. X-Dock missing cables.

Overall Review: First. I did not buy this from NE so the loss of the egg is nothing to do with them. Read on. This is a great case for anyone who doesn't want any compromise about the size of their build because this thing is enormous. The build quality is amazing but along with that thick sheet metal comes weight which for some may be daunting. I had zero problems building my rig with the exception of turning the hard drive bays 90 degrees..my low IQ was showing when I couldn't figure out how to re-install the bays but then when I went to refer to the manual I found I was looking at a HAF 932 document. Were those wacky workers in China joking around by putting the wrong manual in the case? So with no access to the internet because my build was in pieces to download the right manual, it became a guessing game on how to connect cables and get the drive bays right. For that an egg is lost. Once put together, the rig looked awesome. The only other gripe I have is I would have gladly paid an additional $10 to have the X Dock pre-cabled. Love the case though. Recommended.
