Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/120G 2.5
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Fast. Easy install. Kingston honors warranty (added extra star for that).

Cons: Installed on 12/6/13, died on 4/28/14. Second HyperX SSD that failed in five months. My 240GB failed on 12/6 and this 120GB is what I replaced it with and now itfailed, yesterday.

Other Thoughts: Kingston will likely replace it like they did with the first one that failed back in December but not sure I want to keep using Kingston as it is such a hassle to have to replace my C: drive twice a year.
I still have the RMA replacement 240GB HyperX that I received for the December failure but I'm thinking that maybe I should try another brand for the main disk in my desktop.

Pros: Easy return/replacement process when it broke after 12 months

Cons: It broke after 12 months

Other Thoughts: Since I already put in a one star review based on the drive dying after 12 months I'm adding a five star to recognize that Kingston sent me a new drive and that it was pretty easy to work through that process. The lesson here is to back up you data becuase all drives fail, eventually. Only you don't think it will happen after 12 months

Pros: None

Cons: Windows froze so I rebooted the PC and now the SSD is not recognized. Bios does not recognize that something is connected. I tried a different SSD and it is recognized.

Other Thoughts: Lost everything on this SSD, including my emails, windows 8 and photos/videos. Will never buy Kingston again and I will do what little I can to prevent anyone I know from purchasing Kingston products. They got me good and got my money once but I will not make the same mistake twice.
