Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 95W Processor - HH80562PH0568M
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 95W Processor - HH80562PH0568M

Pros: Confirmed SLACR (G0 stepped). Runs cool -- plenty of room for a big OC on air.

Cons: An equally-priced dual core will still outperform it in games (but not in all things)

Try something else.

OKGEAR 18" SATA 6 Gbps Round Cable W/ Metal Shield, Straight to Straight, UV Blue, Backward Compatible with 3 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps
OKGEAR 18" SATA 6 Gbps Round Cable W/ Metal Shield, Straight to Straight, UV Blue, Backward Compatible with 3 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps

Pros: Good length and flexibility makes your routing job easier.

Cons: The big plastic "grip" on the cable seems made for external use -- but keep in mind that these and eSATA connectors are not compatible. This is definitely an internal cable. That said, the "grip" is way too wide to get it plugged in to the drive next to the SATA power connector. Thankfully you can just shave off the extra width on one side with a knife without hurting the cable, but if the SATA connectors on your mobo are stacked, then you're probably looking at shaving off plastic in multiple directions which is crossing the line IMO. Save yourself the hassle and get a better designed cable.

LG 47" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
LG 47" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Pros: Great deal on a great TV. Optical out can passthrough for all sources, not just cable. Mounts well on a stand

Cons: Optical output passthough is STEREO ONLY, surround gets downmixed. Even if you use a programmable remote to access the hidden service menu, the option that would enable surround passthrough does nothing on this model, even with updated firmware. You must select game mode to get rid of the lag. There is no s-video.

Logitech Z906 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System - THX, Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Certified - Black
Logitech Z906 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System - THX, Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Certified - Black

Pros: This speaker system is a great bridging solution between computer and home theater speakers. Specifically, if you have a HTPC but no stereo reciever then these are the speakers for you. It has lots of inputs representing both PC and HT worlds.

Cons: Volume control is in steps instead of continuous but the steps are small enough its not a huge deal

Junk.

QUMAX Gemini-P29MT Black USB RF Wireless Mini MCE Keyboard with Trackball & Laser Presenter Combo
QUMAX Gemini-P29MT Black USB RF Wireless Mini MCE Keyboard with Trackball & Laser Presenter Combo

Pros: Decent key layout. No real reason it had to be laptop sized but at least it has full size backslash and backspace keys.

Cons: Barely works at all. Seems to require a manual re-sync every time you turn it on. Trackball has a grinding feel. Transmitter bad at getting a signal through objects such as my legs -- not very useful for HTPC. Eventually stopped working completely, but I was glad to have a reason to get rid of it.

HP ZR30w Black 30" 7ms S-IPS Panel Height &Swivel Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor w/USB Ports 370 cd/m2 DC 3,000:1
HP ZR30w Black 30" 7ms S-IPS Panel Height &Swivel Adjustable Widescreen LCD Monitor w/USB Ports 370 cd/m2 DC 3,000:1

Pros: The best monitor available for PC gaming. The color quality of the IPS panel is at a level usually reserved for imaging professionals. IPS is usually known for lag, but this monitor has low lag suitable for gaming because it has no OSD. You instead have separate hardware buttons for input selection, brightness, and power. Fine by me, it makes things simpler and anything else can be controlled by the video card anyway. Has a very matte display. Aggressive anti glare coating means you can still see when your room is bright and your game environment is dark. The wide color gamut helps here too. Has all the other features you might want: built in powered USB hub, VESA mount, no power brick, reasonably sized bezel.

Cons: Aggressive anti glare coating also means you get a bit of confetti effect in certain situations like looking into a bright sky in a game. Still worth it IMO but if you have doubts it's worth browsing montiors in person to see if you are more bothered by this effect, or by glare. You're going to have one or the other. The bezel meets the screen in a very concave fashion and they are not "sealed" against each other -- any liquids splashed on the screen will actually drain INTO the case of the monitor.

Overall Review: If you're dropping this much cash on a monitor then you should probably get a simple calibrator to get the most out of the high color accuracy.
