Pros: Blue LED
Cons: Annoying buzz. Added a fan controller to reduce the speed and still hear the buzz, albeit not as noticeable, at lowest speed. Just gets worse at higher fan controller settings.
Other Thoughts: Using a pair of these as the top exhaust fans on a Corsair Air540 case.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Powerful card, easily unlocked to 6970-level shaders. Got a great deal assuming a no-hassle rebate.
Cons: The fan. My last two gaming-type video cards have been getting progressively quieter so I was disappointed to hear the annoying high-pitched tone coming out of this card at idle. I did not get the impression from reviews that this reference design cooler had an issue, so I'm not sure if this was a poor component selection by Powercolor that is causing the issue.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros: Price, compatibility, layout, and so far stability
Cons: None occurred to me while I was putting the system together
Other Thoughts: This board replaced a failed Abit nForce 939 board. I was looking for a economical and reliable AM2 replacement. This is my first Gigabyte board and I have been impressed with the ease of working with it. It came loaded with the F4 Bios and had no problems with a 2.7 Kuma cpu which is now at 3.1. No issues with the GTX 260 vid card, 4 GB of G Skill, and an X-fi sound card. I did ditch the poor Kuma cpu heatsink and reused the nice heatpiped sink from the old Opteron cpu. The performance of the gigabit LAN seems comparable to my previous Intel Pro LAN card and I did install the latest drivers from the Realtek website. Everything fits in an Antec 900 case. A bonus was that my old XP SP3 installation was able to recognize the new AM2 chipset and boot easily. A little driver cleanup and a Windows reactivation has provided a trouble free installation.READ FULL REVIEW
