G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Desktop Memory Model F4-2133C15Q-16GRB

Pros: Looks nice with the flashy heat spreader

Cons: After about a month one of the modules died. I'll have to run triple channel until i can buy another quad set. I no longer have the original packaging and now more than a month went by and I can't exchange them. Should have listened to the reviews and gone with another brand.

Other Thoughts: This has to be the worst success rate of any build I've made since I started with a 939 single core back in early 2006. I bought the X99-S Plus and after a week the DIMM3 slot would fail POST if populated. The manufacturer is dragging their feet on the RMA. Newegg won't exchange because it has been more than 30 days and in order to collect the $20 rebate from the manufacturer you have to take off and send in the UPC code on the box, voiding the warranty. So I bought the X99-A motherboard from the best manufacturer on the planet and now one of my RAM modules has gone bad. BTW, the X99-S Plus would fail POST with any RAM module in it, even if it would work in other slots.

Pros: Inexpensive and good write up. Initially powered on in quad mode RAM using Gskill RipJaws.

Cons: After a week of running the board wouldn't POST. Found that DIMM slot 3 was bad. All my RAM booted fine except when this slot was populated. I'll be sending it back on RMA since it is past the 30 day window for Newegg return. I see now the same board is $50 more so I went with an Asus X99-A. When this comes back from RMA it will be a spare.

Pros: Great price and review... I was so happy to get this up and running With Gskill RAM and a Xeon 1.6 GHz processor LGA 2011-v3. Said military grade components...

Cons: One week after running I powered on the system and it wouldn't pass POST. No text on the video. A blue LED on the motherboard labeled ABIOS1 was solid on. No speaker beep so it is failing somewhere for the power on self test. The fans and lights on the board and video card all come up. Without text on the monitor or a PCIe POST card I can't see where in the process it is failing. CPU, then RAM, then Video, then peripherals. A successful POST usually lets out 1 beep on the speaker. Going to have to calm tech support

Other Thoughts: I hope MSI will back this product... it has been my first build since 2011 and the Crosshair V board
