Pros: My Pentium 4 is buzzing along nice and fine. The whole
system temp took a massive drop due to the fact that I'm
using a really good fan and it's running 65w. Performance
has taken an increase as well. I upgraded from a Prescott
2.66 at 533 FSB. My stepping I received was D0.
Cons: It was kind of messy on the chip. Noticeable scratches and
what looked like a burned out connector. Made worry if it
was going to boot.
Other Thoughts: This upgrade completes my budget rig unless some unforeseen miracle happens like finding a compatible quad
core for the board, but at this point the machine is done.
I've maxed out pretty much everything on the motherboard.
This review is from: Rosewill RCX-ZAIO-92 - 92mm Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Fan
Pros: Slapped this on an Asrock 4core Sata R2.0 and Prescott
Pentium 2.66. This thing was near the point of overheating with temps up to 144 F/62 C with a stock Intel
fan meant for a Quad Core Extreme. After running nonstop
for a week and using Masscool Stars 700 Paste, it's stable
at 120 Degrees/40 C. That's over a 20 Degree C Drop. On
a it's first cold boot it was doing 30 C. Mind you, I have
some of the drive bays open to facilitate passive cooling.
It was also easier to install then that POC fan I had. I
hate working on computers since I'm very accident prone
when handling anything that involves machines. I usually try to hire someone when I can afford to, but it went so
well for a clip. I didn't feel like I was going to break
anything nor was it not secure. I LOVE IT!
Cons: It was a tight fit, even for a full size old school tower from
the first half of the 2000's. I was afraid of scraping the pipes
when putting back on the cover. Fortunately there's a little room left (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) for it to have space.
Other Thoughts: This is a great upgrade (and probably the best) for budget computers that have no mounting brackets. In fact this
one is the most expensive Intel clip fan on Newegg
running on 775 LGA. I couldn't find a better one and
what's funny is I not only got the best, I got it for
comparatively cheap compared to high performance
mounting fans! It's been my best Newegg purchase so far
and they delivered on Tuesday when I ordered on
Sunday. I expected Wednesday. THANKS NEWEGG!
This is probably the last upgrade I'll ever make on this
machine. Unfortunately, finding reliable used outdated
processors is next to impossible. So it looks like I'm stuck
on a Prescott and building a new machine from scratch
again. This machine was built up over time using what
I could find at a Goodwill and decent parts bought of off
here. I sold what I could and ended up with a $75 midlow
