Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model PX538G2000ELK
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: - Stable and fast at the speeds I've tested it with
- Looks good.
- Heat spreader is hefty and feels well built, but not too tall to fit underneath coolers.

Cons: None that I've found yet.

Other Thoughts: When I first put this RAM in my system, it started off at 1066 7-7-7. This surprised me a bit since most of the RAM I've seen defaults to 1333 9-9-9. Regardless, when I enabled the XMP profile, it put it self at its correct specifications 2000 9-10-9-27 2T. However, in order to run at that speed, my BCLK had to jump up from 133 to 200. This caused my mobo to automatically increase voltage on the CPU from 1.24 to 1.48. Since I was actually looking to overclock, but keep the stock voltage, I turned off the XMP profile and set the BCLK to 160, memory multiplier to 10, and the adjusted the memory timings to 8-9-8-24 1T. This gave me exactly the results I wanted.
I'm going to see if I can tighten up the timings a little more sometime later.

ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-R 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Red LED
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

5 out of 5 eggs Quiet and Cool, Simply Amazing 03/06/2012

This review is from: ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-R 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Red LED

Pros: - Quiet (Noise barely noticeable)
- Cool (Idles at 22C for me, and 39C under load with an ambient temperature of 20C)
- Easy install
- Red LED isn't too bright (has a nice glow to it, looks good inside my HAF 922)
- Doesn't block RAM slots like other coolers do.

Cons: - Included thermal paste is hard to spread, but I was finally able to get it on there right after 3 tries.

Other Thoughts: It should be noted that I'm using the connector for "quiet mode". I've noticed that even under load, my fan speed did not max out (was around 1300 RPM), but the cooler still performed amazingly.

Don't pay attention to any negative reviews, if the cooler is installed properly it works great. (Come on people, its not that hard!!!) The instructions are very clear, and ZALMAN has animated install instructions on their site if you need them.
