Pros: Nice looking tool-less enclosure. The eSATA performance was good for an external enclosure with a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB:
Sequential Read: 391.942 MB/s
Sequential Write: 381.532 MB/s
The USB 3.0 performance was just average with the same drive:
Sequential Read: 221.476 MB/s
Sequential Write: 216.447 MB/s
I've read that the Asmedia USB 3.0 chipset in the new generation enclosures is much faster. Still, this easily beats all the other enclosures I own.
Cons: Finicky latching mechanism requires some finesse. No bottom feet were included. The USB 3.0 connector is slightly skewed and seems fragile.
Other Thoughts: There's no information about the chipset used in the enclosure at their web site, but they did post some reviews with benchmarks.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I used this device with one of my Seagate 1TB 3.5" hard disks and it worked well. The 3.5" hard drive did not power up until it was connected to a USB port, even though I connected the power adapter first. My OCZ SSD worked fine without the AC Power Adapter, I just connected it to one of the USB 3.0 ports. I've only had it a short time, but it seems to work as advertised, it's as fast as the USB port's maximum speed for fast devices like my SSD.
Cons: Short USB 3.0 cable.
Other Thoughts: Contrary to what I read in the reviews, it will put the 3.5" drive to "sleep" when left unattended, it wakes when you access it. I benchmarked my Seagate 1TB HDD with HD Tune, using this adapter, and it was as fast as the internal SATA 6G connection on my ASUS motherboard.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Fast data tranfers within Windows 7. Metal front panel matches my SilverSone case.
Cons: Poor contruction: USB connectors on the front panel are held by a single center screw and the USB connectors move when you plug in a device. The 20-pin header does not seat fully and can fall out of the PCIe card connector on the PCIe card. This card will not boot any of the USB 3.0 devices I have tried, my other systems with built-in USB 3.0 have no problems booting all my USB 3.0 devices. Devices connected to this unit are not visible in BIOS or UEFI motherboards.
Other Thoughts: I have used SilverStone cases in my systems and I was expecting better quality. This card a ppears to a re-branded Teratrend TA03 USB 3.0 PCIe Card. Purchased at another online store.READ FULL REVIEW
