Pros: I purchased six of these mounts and do no yet have all of them fully deployed. They seem to be very sold and certainly able to do the job.

Tripp Lite provides an Allen-Wrench to tighten the tilt forward/back movement of the arm but the 3-degree rotate left/right utilizes thumb-screws. It’s difficult to tighten the thumb-screws and I found it necessary to tighten with a pliers.

Cons: The 3-degree rotate feature is certainly nice to have but adequately tightening the screws is too difficult. They should make everything adjustable with the Allen-Wrench provided.

HDMI Over Cat5 Active Extender Kit

5 out of 5 eggs It works but trouble with WMC PC 02/29/2012

This review is from: HDMI Over Cat5 Active Extender Kit

Pros: It took some work but the product is now performing just as described. Initially, I had some problems getting it to play properly with a Windows Media Center on my PC. After some fiddling however, I came to understand the issue was with Windows Media Player (default DVD player) and not my PC or the Tripp Lite product. When I started using TotalMedia 3 by ArcSoft, all the problems went away and it now works perfectly.

Cons: a little expensive but that's okay.

Other Thoughts: The instructions are very basic and that's a bit disappointing. I'd like to see some more information in there specifically around the specs needed to make it work over Cat5e wiring. Just because your wire is Cat5, you are not guaranteed a certian throughput.

Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe - Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: The idea of a single card with 4 tuners.

Cons: The combination of the PC, Ceton Card, cable card and the tuning adapter (provided by my cable company) have never all come together to work for more than a few days at a time. Ceton writes their own drivers to work with my Cisco 1520 Tuning Adapter (provided by TW Cable) and dispite a couple revisions over several months, they have yet to get it right. I frequently lose the ability to tune in channels and I typically need to de-install and reinstall software to properly use the product.

Other Thoughts: The idea behind the Ceton card is great… a single PCIe card that allows the user to view/record 4 HD channels simultaneously. In reality however, there are a lot of moving parts; card itself, multi-stream cable card, Windows 7, Windows Media Center and a tuning adapter. For me, the tuning adapter provided by my cable company has been a constant source of problems. Despite my best efforts, it’s never worked properly for more than a few days at a time. Ceton has been relatively responsive but after several months of attention, they have yet to produce a solid solution.
