This review is from: ASRock Z77 Extreme9 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This board comes with every feature you can imagine, as well as dozens separated controllers for peripherals. I was testing Xen virtualization with passthrough, and this board was great for it.
Cons: I have not been able to reset the BIOS with the switch button or the pin switch in several months. I contacted them and received no reply.
As of today I swapped out the CPU since I bought an even newer (more expensive) ASRock motherboard. I was disappointed to see that two of my ASMedia ports are suddenly no-longer functioning. I confirmed from my OS that one of the two ASMedia controllers disappeared.
Other Thoughts: I have contacted ASRock about the bios months ago and got no reply. I just sent in another ticket about the broken ports. The board comes with a 3 year "limited warranty". I hope they will honor it.
So far I would say great hardware, terrible support. I have given it 2 eggs because of the support, given the cost of this board and having only owned it for one year I. If they are willing to fix the problem, I will amend my review,
This review is from: KINGWIN KF-253-BK 2.5"&3.5" Multi-Function Hot Swap Rack w/ USB 3.0 Hub
Pros: High level of utility, hot swap bays for 2.5" and 3.5" drives in the same shell, plus USB 3.0 ports to fill internal headers. Works great in a case with four worthless 5.25" bays. Seems quite sturdy, and noise prevention is neat.
Cons: Power switches might be a bad choice, while SATA is hot-swappable obvious problems if you switch it by accident during use. As a result of being highly functional it has a large number of parts, many moving, which worries me despite its sturdy frame. More importantly almost all of the internal metal is not sanded or rounded, and you could easily cut yourself so handle with care.
Other Thoughts: I bought three, all fully functional, easily installed, and ran out of USB 3.0 headers on my board, so I used a 3.0 to 2.0 converter, and it still works great.
The idea of locks is great, and the 2.5" are nice but the 3.5" are either plastic or soft metal and dented when I tried using the first one.
Overall they are an excellent choice to make the most of a spare 5.25" bay, and I am happy with them.
Pros: SATA3, 4 ports, RAID, and PCI Express is a nice package for the price.
Cons: Arrived DOA. Tested in 3 PCIe slots, UEFI BIOS on ASRock Z77 Extreme9 sees the slots as empty, and Debian Linux does not list the card under lspci. Very disappointing, ruined my plans for the weekend.
Other Thoughts: I have submitted a request for replacement through the manufacturer, if I can get a replacement in a timely fashion I will amend or repost my review.READ FULL REVIEW
