Haier ESA408M 8,000 Cooling Capacity (BTU) Window Air Conditioner

4 out of 5 eggs Welcome to the Circus of Value. 07/31/2014

This review is from: Haier ESA408M 8,000 Cooling Capacity (BTU) Window Air Conditioner

Pros: Chills a 20x20 master bedroom. I can really feel the airflow. I want to turn it off after 15 minutes or so. It's so effective. Even on the lowest fan setting. That says a lot. I live in central Texas.

I barely hear the compressor. I don't want to give the impression that it's quiet. I have to turn the TV on now. Between the lack of noise, price, and effectiveness; I returned the 6k btu unit I bought previously.

Cons: The side panels leave something to be desired. They were hard to work with. I was expecting more range on the spread there. The width was actually less than my 6k unit (different manufacturer.)

The power of the blast knocks the dust off my ceiling fan. I need to dust.

Does not prep meatballs. Does not cold smoke a meat or cheese of your choosing.

Other Thoughts: Comparing to a 6k frigid from a major brick and mortar. I can really feel the difference. All I hear is airflow. It is impressive. This unit is so much quieter. I think something was wrong with the frigid. It had the ambient sounds of Bioshock.

I think you need to get up to the 10k's to get side panels that stretch for a wide window. If your window seal is wide; I'd invest in after market side panels. My window is over four feet wide. These panels leave about a foot of open space. I have to fill the holes with weird, ineffective stuff.

Rosewill 80mm Computer Case Fan (Case Cooling Fan) - Transparent Frame & 4 Blue LEDs, Sleeve Bearing, Silent Fan with LP4 Adapter; RFA-80-BL

Pros: This fan fits in the only slot on the rear panel of my CM 690 II Advanced. It's pretty close to the cpu back plate. This fan will help with the cpu temp. It also gives the rest of the motherboard a nice blowing from behind.

The fan led's are a nice bright blue. It can really light up your case/room depending on where you put it.

Cons: It's loud by default. I will not deduct an egg. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I found some software that let me manage the rpm of the fan. I take it down to 1500rpm. I can barely hear it at that point.

I always wondered about that slot on the back panel. Fanned!

LINKSYS E3000 Wireless Router simultaneous Dual Band Gigabit 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4GHz / 5GHz up to 300Mbps with USB Built-in UPnP AV Media Server

Pros: This router was great for me. It was my internet that sucked. It held wifi connections for a long time. It covered the whole house well. Even to the master bedroom going through two walls.

This router really came in handy. My internet used to come from a 2.4ghz radio. I eventually turned off the 2.4ghz radio in the router due to conflicts. Most of my wifi network is 5ghz compatible.

Cons: I remember how upset I was about this router. 30 days after I bought it; I got an email advertising the router for 20 bucks less. ARG. I never had a chance to see gigabit speeds either. It went down before it's time was up!

Other Thoughts: This was my first dual-band. This router stopped working recently. I had dd-wrt on it for the last 2 months or so. It seemed nice. I've already noticed a weird disconnect on the replacement for this one... I actually wouldn't mind buying this again.
