This review is from: D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
Pros: Good features, good range. Fast ethernet.
Cons: Worked good up until right after the warranty period. Since then I have had daily drops of wireless connections and constant DNS issues. Kept firmware updated and tried a myriad of configs to no avail. Lastly I updated the firmware with the Canad version, turned off QOS and DNS relay and it seems more stable, but as soon as you get 3 or more devices connected to it, it slows down and my PS3 will disconnect with DNS errors. Then my laptop just quits loading web pages. Unplug and reboot it and its good for a while longer. Sometimes 3 or 4 reboots are required.
Other Thoughts: Dlink has always been my go to router for myself, friends family and clients, but after this experience I think I am going to have to go to another brand. :(
PS. Had extensive testing done by TWC and even got a new modem from them. No help!
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-H55M-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Was an all around good board I used for a simple build for my mom. Had ram issues at first then it seemed OK after swap to ADATA.
Cons: Had intermittent issues with USB 3 ports. Then it started randomly shutting off a few months ago, but I attributed it to software. Well it finally just quit. Sad for a board with light use and 5yr plus projected life span. Since I didn't get to it right away, now it is past warranty I suspect.
Other Thoughts: This board was hailed as rock solid, so I took a chance on Gigabyte and lost. Doubt I will ever buy another for my customers.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Came quick ship
Cons: Worked long enough to almost load windows and got real warm and quit. Hooked to my desktop and it will not even show up as a device any longer so assuming the controller fried.
Other Thoughts: Sure wish I would have got to try it outREAD FULL REVIEW
