ECS G41T-M7 LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Nice set of features 06/22/2014

This review is from: ECS G41T-M7 LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I like that you have PATA and SATA, it uses socket 775 yet takes DDR3 which gives you a lot of choices in CPU as well as cheaper ram options.

Cons: Can't really think of any for the price it was bought at.

Other Thoughts: I installed a Xeon X3320 in mine after I found out it is the same as the Q9300, which is on the ECS list of supported CPUs. It's running great and cost $35 used from that auction site which we can't mention by name, (groan) great savings over a Core2Quad though it is actually the same. This is a "sweet spot" in terms of low cost options with the memory, CPU and ability to use old drives. I might try the socket 771 adapter with an even more powerful chip with another board some day..

Rosewill 120mm Computer Case Fan (Case Cooling Fan) - Hydro Dynamic Bearing, Silent Fan, 2 Rotation Speed with PWM Control; ROCF-11004
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: I am using this as the case fan with no fan on the tower CPU heatsink, (also meant for 120mm fans and very close anyway) also since it's a 35 watt TDP chip. VERY quiet, for my use it only runs at 950rpm and keeps my cpu temp under 30C most of the time, as low as 25C minimum.

Cons: None really, could be cheaper but watch for rebate offers and sales..

Other Thoughts: For a low power machine with a SSD this is really all the cooling I need.

Pretec i-Disk Sports-Soccer 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

1 out of 5 eggs Flaky 01/18/2014

This review is from: Pretec i-Disk Sports-Soccer 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

Pros: It looks like a ball?

Cons: Linux Live USB creator has a hard time recognizing it. Even after I unplugged everything from the hub and then it saw it, it asked me to re-insert the disk after selecting all options. None of my other USB flash drives does this.

Other Thoughts: Obviously there's a reason why this is so cheap, I got it for kids hoping it will be a fun shape but if it doesn't work what's the point? Save your money for something that actually works.
