Great Receiver
Pros: Great receiver, easy to setup and lots of inputs! I have a huge media library so built-in DLNA support is nice. Apple device support plus Airplay support is awesome. iControlAV2012 is sweet, you can control the receiver right from your iPad!
Cons: No video support through DLNA or portable devices like iPads. You must get a higher level receiver for these features.
Overall Review: I love Pioneer receivers and they're all I recommend to anyone!
Free!!
Pros: They were free!! I personally wouldn't buy a Monster cable cos they are so expensive and I don't know enough to know if it is justified. I got two free so I used them and they work fine.
Cons: none
Asus all the way!!
Pros: Asus as always delivers! It's been about 5 years since my last build so a lot of stuff is new to me but as far as I can tell this board is bulletproof. If you screw-up your overclocking settings the board will still boot so that you can make adjustments. I'm not a hardcore overclocker so I've found this board makes overclocking very easy.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: The only negative I have is that out of the box my system did not boot and the RAM LED was on. I tested each board individually but still couldn't get it to boot. Long story short: I flashed the BIOS and then the system boot. I was annoyed cos I bought RAM that was listed on the compatible list. The only reason I did not take away an egg is because of the ability to flash the BIOS on this board with nothing more than a power supply. I don't know when Asus came up with that feature but it is by far one of the best!
So far so good
Pros: modular, quiet, fan only comes on when it's needed.
Cons: none
whisper quiet!!
Pros: very quiet, PWM, no LEDs, keeps my system nice a cool.
Cons: none
Overall Review: I replaced the stock Antec 900 fans with these and I was amazed how quiet the system became. My hard drives are actually louder than the fans.
Dear G.Skill
Pros: It works.
Cons: Labeling of speed is misleading
Overall Review: Dear G.Skill, Thank you for the information you provided, it was very informative. However, I still stand behind my comment that the way the product is labeled and described is misleading. I don't believe any manufacturer should assume the consumer knows anything. If 1866 or higher are not native speeds it should still be noted that overclocking is required to achieve these rates and not solely through another company's product such as a motherboard. Also the motherboard I purchased does not help support your claim as it does not indicate 1866 as an overclocked rate. 2400 and 2133 are noted with (OC) but 1866 is not. Therefore I was lead to believe 1866 was a native rate which lead me to purchase this RAM which I was lead to believe ran at 1866 natively. The board I purchased is an Asus P9X79; please feel free to review it. Anyway, I am still pleased with my purchase and have no complaints as far as quality and reliability go. I have had no issues thus far. Thanks!
