ASUS PB287Q Black 28
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Color is great
Stand is tough and gives many angles of adjustment
Picture quality and response times are excellent!
Great for games
Tons of great settings and options

Cons: Buttons for monitor on back...
Menu for monitor a little weird in certain areas
Menu not accessible unless plugged into device thats sending output
Starts in DP 1.1 mode?

Other Thoughts: First off, I purchased the open box deal for this monitor not the new one (However its the same product). I have to say I love this monitor and its the best monitor ive owned in sheer quality (let alone the best TN panel ive seen). I have not had any issues with the monitor and it worked beautifully with not a single dead pixel or and bleeding edges. I do have the issue some users have reported with the popping and flickering at 4k 60hz, however this is not the monitor or cables fault. I bought an Accell 1meter cable and the issue was the same but the monitor ran fine at a custom refresh (above 30hz but below 60hz). This is due to a driver issue on certain video cards for 4k, on other machines it works without one issue but on a few I get the same reported problems.

Wait until the GPU company you have updates the drivers and your issues should go away.

I love this monitor and im glad I purchased it!

PowerColor AX7870 2GBD5-2DHV5E/OC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 V5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card - Retail

Pros: Good Cooler
Lots of performance for 1080p Gaming
Good Warranty
Good Brand
Love the Color Scheme
Relatively Quiet even when set to 100%

Cons: Each card I bought is slightly different in temperature readouts (Kinda expected so not really a con)
6 Pin Ports are conflicted a bit by the Fan power Cord running right next to them
Fan cord sticks out top touching heatpipe, moved it for a bit of safety (Not all were touching, but a few of the batch I bought were)

Other Thoughts: These are excellent cards, I bought these for a couple of gaming rigs being built (One running in CFX) for the budget people looking for a good performance gaming machine. They got more than they wanted and so did I with these cards. I was curious if the cooler was going to be up to the recent PowerColor standards and was more than happy with it. They run very quiet in all the machines including the one running with 2 in CFX. I was actually surprised that on auto the fans even when stress testing never exceeded 50% and kept the temps around 72C. I will definitely buy more of these cards in the future should I need them for more budget gaming rigs. The game performance is just top notch and even ran BF4 with Mantle enabled on Ultra with an average of 60+ FPS Easily (1080p, Max everything, dropping the MSAA off) .

Thermaltake SMART Series SP-550PCBUS 550W ATX 12V 2.3 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Price
550 Watts
Bronze Certified
Decent amount of cables for all the needs of a 550 watt computer
Nice Sleeving

Cons: Cables are very stiff and hard to route
Almost to many extra Sata cables (For a normall 550 Watt computer needs)
Short cables, only use with small machines or you will end up with a problem (Not a Con for me, just more of a warning to users)

Other Thoughts: This is an update to having a DOA unit. I got this one and it worked flawlessly after newegg returned and re-shipped me a working one. Its a good PSU especially when you consider the price and it does all I need and more for this small machine for a friend.
My only concerns were with the Cables themselves attached to the PSU. They were very stiff which makes routing them anywhere a chore and the cables were pretty short. Now I used this in a MITX build which the short cables came in handy because space is need for me in a machine like this.

I recommend this PSU for people on a budget building small machines!
