Quite possibly the best video card I have owned.

ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5
ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5

Pros: Quiet Huge HSF with 10mm heat pipe! Custom design 6 digital power phases No coil buzz Maxwell gpu Low power consumption 1 x 8pin power socket only Low load temps~68C Fast Fast Fast

Cons: No accessories Video card is larger and heavier than I expected.

Overall Review: I get all bothered by people posting comments when they do not actually own the card! I now have two of these in my main rig in SLI. They replaced a pair of watercooled HD R9-290's. To be honest there was no real need for me to 'upgrade' from the R9-290's to the GTX 970's, however I have been disappointed recently by mantle support and the bugs in BF4. My R9-290's were running at 1150mhz on the core and I was able to score just over 17,000 in Firestrike. With a pair of GTX 970's I score a little over 18,000. Not a huge increase. I will be putting waterblocks on these eventually, however I have been running these stock since I received them and I am not able to hear them when the computer idles. At full load I can just make out both cards, and this is likely due to the fact that I am running them in sli. Having a single card will reduce airflow concerns and a single card will be cooler than SLI. Even so I saw maximum temps of 68C when playing games. I am not a Nvidia fanboy but I must confess that I prefer the drivers to the AMD drivers... I installed Metro Last Light again and the spot where I used to crash with my R9-290's was fine with these GTX 970's, BF4 looks sublime and I have even gone back to Farcry 3.... I am impressed with these cards, they are a custom pcb, with decent 6 phase digital vrm's and a massive cooler. They are quiet, fast and use around 280W less power at full load than a pair of overclocked R9-290's (according to my Kill-a-watt meter), as far as speed is concerned, I do not see a huge improvement over a pair of overclocked R9-290's, but they manage to pull off a slight speed advantage while using less power and putting out much less heat and noise. IMO these are the cards to beat. I run my games on a 2560x1440 monitor that runs at 120hz. A single card is perfect for 60fps at 2560x1440.... I can't think of anything bad to say about these cards...

My overclocked Hellhound is as fast as my stock 6950xt!

PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 x16 ATX Video Card RX7800XT 16G-L/OC
PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 x16 ATX Video Card RX7800XT 16G-L/OC

Pros: Extremely well built Overclocked out of the box Same price as AMD MSRP LED can be switched on and off using onboard switch. 16GB fast VRAM Excellent overclocker Almost as fast as my 6950XT Runs cool and quiet Dual Bios Display port 2.1 AV1 encode and decode support Free copy of Starfield Premium Faster than other GPUs at this price 2 year warranty (see cons)

Cons: Big card, will take up 3 slots Overclocking is more complicated than previous generations FSR is not as efficient as DLSS Not much faster than the 6800XT at stock Warranty is limited

Overall Review: My 6700XT was not going to be able to cope with Starfield at 1440P, so it was time for an upgrade. I purchased the 6700XT in 2021 and put a waterblock on it immediately as I am a fan of silent computing. 7900XT and 7900XTX were released and way out of my budget, so I waited. Starfield bundles were announced and I decided that it was time to upgrade, if only to save $100 on the premium version of the game. I was waiting for the 7800XT release, but retailers dropped prices of previous gen cards and stupidly I picked up a 6950XT at $575 thinking it would be a good buy. It was a huge card and turned my office into an airport runway in Florida in the summer, ie hot and loud (no mosquitos). Bad decision. The card was fast, and happily chewed through 331W full load. I was considering a waterblock, but these were another $170. I tried undervolting, but the card would still hit 102C (hotspot). I sent it back and waited for the 7800XT. The day they released I jumped on the Hellhound, this would be the first Powercolor card I had owned. The reason for buying it was it was at $499 MSRP, but was factory overclocked, dual bios, and came with an impressive looking cooler with LED. Oh, and Starfield was thrown in for free. I knew that my gaming experience would be better than my older 6700XT, but as I had not read any online reviews I was buying in the dark, so to speak. The card arrived, the 6950XT was swapped out and the testing began. First impression was positive, the card had a heft to it and felt well built and solid. It is a large card, but smaller than the outgoing 6950XT. Drivers were installed and I ren some tested with Unigine Supposition and 3D Mark Timespy as I had no games that would consistently allow me to compare the 6950XT to the new 7800XT. First of all, I am not a fan of the visual glitches that FSR and DLSS introduce, so I am only interested in native resolution and these technologies were not tested. At stock settings the 7800XT returned 76.72 FPS in Supposition and 19894 graphic points in 3D Mark. The 6950XT returned 84.21 FPS in Supposition and 21371 in 3D Mark. So, understandably the prior generation flagship was faster, but not that much faster The 7800XT ran cool and quiet. I was not able to hear the fans at full load over those of the case! The gpu ran at 60C full load and had a max hotspot of 88C during testing and consumed 228Watts. Impressive. I ran through some very quick overclocking, which was easier than I hoped with this card. Max out power limit by +15, set max clock at 5000Mhz, min clock at 2800mhz. Min voltage was set at 980mV, memory set at 2600mhz and fast timing, fan profile left at default. I expected the pc to crash as I this was my first rough and ready overclock, but I was able to complete Supposition and 3D Mark without issues 3 times each. To my surprise the overclocked 7800XT was able to hit similar scores to the stock 6950XT, returning 84.46 FPS in Supposition and 22088 graphic points in 3D Mark! Also, it consumed 263W, was silent during load and reached 68C with a hotspot of 88C! I am beyond happy at this stage, performance exceeded my wildest dreams. The card is so quiet I may decide to save some money and not watercool this card! Starfield is running extremely well at High settings. My only complaint is the limited warranty, Powercolor will not transfer the warranty, if the card is sold during the 2 year warranty period, and the warranty is voided if the original HSF is removed. There are companies like XFX that cover HSF removal as long as there is no obvious damage to VGA as a result of HSF removal. Recommended.

Great case, solid build quality and extremely quiet

be quiet! Shadow Base 800 DX - ARGB - Mid-Tower PC Gaming Case - 420mm radiators or E-ATX motherboards Support - Black

Pros: Supports all ATX form factors Great build quality Extensive front IO Extensive water-cooling support up to dual 420mm rads 3x140mm Pure Wings case fans included (Not RGB) Very quiet Easy access dust filters Excellent airflow resulting in low temps Decent paper manual included Sound dampening material on back panel 3 year warranty

Cons: No fan splitters or fan hub included Side panels slide onto case, I would have preferred hinges No PCI-riser cable included One motherboard standoff was thread stripped Heavy and extremely large for a Mid-Tower Overhang at back of case made DVI connection to GPU difficult

Overall Review: After 3 years it was time for a change from my Phantek P600 case (which has been a great case), housing 2 radiators and an oversized video card. My main issue with the Phantek case was the solid front panel and the resulting reduced airflow. After a bit of research, I landed on the be quiet Shadow Base 800 DX Black as it was a similar size to my current case. This is my very first be quiet product and I had high hopes that it would exceed my expectations. Be quiet is a German company, incorporated in 2002 and manufacturing power supplies, cpu coolers, computer cases and case fans. The Shadow Base 800 is sold in three flavors, so to speak, the standard version comes with 3x140mm fans, the DX comes with 3x140mm fans and two distinctive ARGB strips on the front panel, and the top of the range FX comes with 3x140mm ARGB fans, the ARGB front panel strip and a fan hub for ARGB control. The DX and FX are available in black and white. All versions have the same dimensions and case layout. The case arrived in a huge box and was well packed and completely undamaged, even though it looked like the delivery guy had played soccer with the box! The case had three fans preinstalled, one in the front (intake), one at the top (intake) and one at the back (exhaust), I kept all in the default configuration. The top panel was clean and included and large, illuminated on button, USB 3.2 Gen 2 type C port and 2xUSB 3.0 type A ports along with separate headphone and mic ports and button to change the modes and colors of the front panel ARGB strips. If you want to sync the front ARGB strips to your motherboard, connect the 5V LED case cable to the motherboard and press and hold the front IO button for 3 seconds. For a mid-tower case this thing is huge, 550mm x 247mm x 503mm, and can hold radiators up to 420mm at the front and the top. One side panel is lined with sound dampening material and the other consists of very heavy and thick tempered glass. I built a new pc into the case with a B660M motherboard, Intel 13600K and an oversized 7800XT. For this build I chose one of the largest CPU air coolers, the Peerless Assassin to show you just how much room there is in this case. It did take me some time to position my motherboard on the standoffs as they did not line up exactly with my specific motherboard (possibly due to the large fixed motherboard rear IO). The rest of the build was straightforward. Cable management was easy with all of the tie down positions and the removable cable bar. The case was extremely quiet once up and running, just a slight background hum. I let my motherboard control all three 140mm fans via PWM during testing. As the cpu cooler was different in this build from the Phantek, I decided just to test the GPU temperatures as this was a simple apples to apples comparison, with the same 7800XT and balanced settings in the AMD software. I used the internal AMD GPU stress test for 20 minutes with the 7800XT in the Phantek case and then the same test with the 7800XT in the new be quiet case. As you can see from the attached images, the mesh on the be quiet front panel and addition of 140mm fans made a huge difference lowering my gpu temps from 64C to 56C and a GPU hotspot from 86C to 77C and GPU VRM temps from 71C to 62C! I will be adding water cooling to this build at a later date and have a huge amount of room available for rads, reservoirs and pumps. The case was extremely quiet and the 3x140mm fans provided amazing airflow when combined with the mesh on the front and top panels. I really cant think of any negatives, you can mount 2x360/420mm rads and fans in push/pull, and even rotate your gpu (you will need to buy a riser card though), build quality is outstanding and the case is whisper quiet and comes with a 3 year warranty. Whats not to like? I am excited to see what else be quiet manufactures now.

Good 5G speeds where possible.

TRI CASCADE VOS Your Own Private Connect and Go Internet, Secured and Fast 5G network dongle that connects directly via USB C to computer or 2023 iPad
TRI CASCADE VOS Your Own Private Connect and Go Internet, Secured and Fast 5G network dongle that connects directly via USB C to computer or 2023 iPad

Pros: 5G connection, download speed up to 2.52Gpbs Qualcomm Snapdragon SOC 100Mhz, Mimo 4x4 Backward compatible with 4G and 3G Secure wired connection via USB-C, not wifi hotspot No battery, powered by connected device (3-7W in use typical) Small, 3.44 x 1.53 x 0.83in Runs cool and quiet Connects to the T-Mobile network Connects to IOS, Android and Windows via USB-C with no drivers required. Sim card included in box Green and red LED displays connectivity status

Cons: Setup requires credit check before account can be created No data roll over If you exceed your 5G data allowance your connection reverts to an unlimited 3G connection Battery life of connected device is lowered while in use Connection is only as good as the T-Mobile coverage Unable to charge device and use VOS at same time (USB-C in use) Credit check requires SSN and DL Many typos on their website does not inspire confidence The review process to get account setup took a long time with no acknowledgement Review starts here-Needed more space... Everyone is connected to the internet these days and no-one can work or play without it. No internet? No streaming, no movies, no music, no video games, no news, no work! I have become more and more frustrated trying to work away from my speedy fiber connection at home. I am a real estate agent and spend much of my week in houses, apartments and on land that has no wifi, and connecting to the internet to pull up presentations, contracts, video or market analyses is vital if I am to succeed and provide my clients with accurate information in a timely fashion. I can create a hotspot with my cellphone, but Verizon's coverage is patchy at best. People expect data quickly and get frustrated if webpages dont load immediately, myself included. I had to find a better solution and that lead me to the VOS 5G dongle. In case you were not aware of the idiosyncrasies of data transmission, the higher the frequency the more data can be transmitted and received, however, the higher the frequency, the lower the range the waveform has and the more likely it will be blocked by walls and miscellaneous objects. Remember good old 802.11b and g wifi that transmitted and received on 2.4Ghz at 11mbit/s and 54mbit/s, it had a great range, I was often able to connect to my router in my back yard 200m away, but it was extremely slow and video and music streaming was not possible even 2-5ft away from the router. Modern wifi is much faster, now we are talking about wifi 5, 6 and 7 with 5 supporting data rates of up to 3.46gbps and wifi 7 supporting up to 46gbps! Sounds great in theory, but range will be extremely localized. Same principle with 5G vs 4G vs 3G, the amount of data transmitted is magnitudes higher but the range of transmission is reduced. The very latest millimeter-wave 5G has a theoretical transmission rate of 2gbps but according to Verizon, maximum unobstructed outdoor range is 1500 ft, good luck indoors. Mid Band 5G should be good for 500mbps according to T-Mobile with a 1-3mile range outdoor, Low-Band 5G up to 200mbps with a 10-mile outdoor range and 4G LTE 20-50mbps with a range of 10 plus miles outdoors. As for poor old 3G, expect between 1 and 20mbps and a range of 15 plus miles outdoors. On paper T-Mobile looks to have the best nationwide 5G coverage, especially in rural areas, but according to T-Mobiles website this is in the low band frequencies.

Overall Review: The VOS dongle is manufactured by Tri-Cascade, a California based IOT Telecom provider and they promise a secure and fast 5G experience using a cable connected device. Setup should be easy! Scan QR code on back of box, or go to their website to activate the included sim card. Enter personal information and payment details and choose a data plan. There are 3 data plans to choose from, $25/month gives you 5GB of 5G Data, $35/month gives you 10GB of 5G data and $55/month gives you 100GB of 5G data, there is a $5 monthly discount if you choose autopay. After you use up your high-speed data your connection speed reverts to 3G but is unlimited. There is no high-speed data roll-over from one month to the next, so use it or lose it. Unfortunately, the setup process requires a credit check first, which includes the need to enter your social security number and another form of State ID, which in my case was my Drivers License. Not something I was especially happy to do as I have little experience working with Tri-Cascade and their website did not exactly inspire confidence with the multiple typos I found navigating to the activation page! Anyhow, I applied for T-Mobile credit by entering all of the required information and waited; not even an email acknowledgement that my application was being processed. Now what? So, I re-submitted my personal information, 30 minutes later and more crickets. I checked spam folder and waited. So, I reached out to their support team. Two days later and still nothing, lucky I already had a pre-activated SIM card to test with. Anyhow, after choosing your data plan, the sim card can be activated online and inserted in to the VOS dongle. The dongle is connected to your device via a short USB-C cable and a green light means that you are connected to the network. In my testing connection to the T-Mobile network took less than 60 seconds and required no additional drivers on my Windows 11 based laptop. My testing was limited to Windows only as I was unable to connect to the VOS 5G to my Pixel 5a and did not have a current gen iOs device with USB-C. I did reach out to the VOS support to ask about the Pixel issues, but as of today have not received a reply. As far as Windows testing was concerned, it was a mixed bag. I tested inside my house next to my 802.11ac router on my Win 11 laptop that has a 802.11ac adapter with a maximum throughput of 866mbps and my fiber connection is good for 500mbps up and 500mbps down. I also tested outside my house in clear air with no obstructions. I use Ooklas Speedtest for testing and then ran some Netflix, Hulu and Prime video at 1080P to check for stuttering and sync issues. When my laptop was connected to my wifi network inside the house, I was able to hit 129mbps down and 78mbps up with a ping of 30ms. When connected to the VOS 5G dongal in exactly the same location, the maximum I could get was between 39-65mpbs down and 1.56-3.66mbps up with a 58-85ms ping. While these results were less than my wifi connection, they were still good enough to watch 1080P movies without issues. Outside was different, which was not unexpected. The VOS 5G dongle speeds were exceptional hitting 297mbps down and 32.72mbps up with a 15ms ping. Unfortunately, as with most 5G and 4G networks, bandwidth fluctuates greatly and the 297mbps would often sink down to less than 90mbps at times. The 5G dongle provided enough bandwidth for surfing the web, streaming presentations, access to cloud storage and video and music streaming without issue. The only differentiating feature that this dongle brings to the table is the fact that it is connected via a cable and not wifi, making hacking more difficult, but I am not really sure that it is enough to set it apart from the plethora of other 5G wifi hotspots that are easier to connect to, dont use the USB-C port, and come from more familiar manufacturers. I was not happy with the lack of response from support, the inability to connect to my Pixel 5a or the hoops that you need to go through to activate the SIM on T-Mobile. Having said this, the outside speeds were excellent though, and this device certainly allowed me to work in places that I have not been able to work in to date. One egg off for poor support response and need for credit check during new activation.

Best game I've played for years

AMD Gift - Starfield Premium Edition Game Bundle [Online Game Code]
AMD Gift - Starfield Premium Edition Game Bundle [Online Game Code]

Pros: Free with my new 7800XT

Cons: No cons

Overall Review: Great game, very immersive. Space version of Skyrim. Enjoying every minute. Be patient, the first few hours are slow and difficult, your first ship is terrible and your first weapons are useless. Read some online reviews, choose traits and background story well and this can make the first few hours easier. I was able to find the mantis ship early and this really helped with my space fights, but no spoilers here.

Poor product quality.

Don't bother buying from this company. My watch arrived in a broken box that was Scotch taped together. No warranty, so obviously grey market. Unacceptable in my opinion.
