Logitech 970-000001 Revue Companion Box with Google TV and Keyboard Controller

3 out of 5 eggs Maybe refurb has the problems ... 08/09/2012

This review is from: Logitech 970-000001 Revue Companion Box with Google TV and Keyboard Controller

Pros: Having Google TV (w/Chrome browser) makes this product worth the problems. It's a wonderful device, despite a few problems, and provides a real browser for your TV with a real keyboard to use. However, it's possible my refurb is the problem. If new ones work as advertised, it's essential at this point.

Cons: Having to reboot every time makes it a pain.

Other Thoughts: Basically, every time I turn on the TV I have to reset the Revue. Soon (8-8-12 this review written) Vizio is supposed to have a similar device, a small box with Chrome, etc. Apparently they no longer make the Revue.

EVGA 640-P2-N821-RX GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB 320-Bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: This card is more than adequate for most games. There were a few quirks when I put it in. For some reason afterward the internet wouldn't work, nor the sound. I figured it might be the card but it turned out I had to reinstall the drivers for the onboard devices. So I went and did a motherboard chipset and drivers upgrade anyway. Also, remember there is a power plug on the card itself that has to be plugged in.

Cons: The card, as people have noted, takes up two slots. When I couldn't get my onboard networking going, I bought a cheap PCIE network card, which helped. I was able to put back the sound card in the slot where before I had the net card.

Other Thoughts: Nothing good seems to come without some struggle, various fixes, and it is never more true than with computers and devices sometimes. Check the internet for problems others have had with their installations.

2 out of 5 eggs Dead as a doornail - no way to bios 12/15/2007

This review is from: Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: For the money, supposedly a good buy, but read on ...

Cons: This board leaves me at the boot screen with a "press DEL to run setup" screen, and that is it. Nothing I do will let me into the bios. I figure I got a dead board.

Other Thoughts: If I got one that worked, I might have a better opinion obviously.
