Sharp...good but not like previous

Sharp R-1874 1.1 cu. ft. 850W Over-The-Range Microwave
Sharp R-1874 1.1 cu. ft. 850W Over-The-Range Microwave

Pros: Fits where old Sharp was over the range. Prettier. Slick. Overall happy. Next home owner should enjoy it. Haven't tried Convection yet.

Cons: No filter included. It was in the 13yr old model it replaced. It is now an accessory! RK-220. Still uses an incandescent rather than LED bulb! Really. PITA to install. Previous had mount you can, as one person, install on, slide back then bolt. This one, Sharp metal backplate, different hole mounts, and no hooks. I dented it installing it. Silly instructions want you to cut the box up like some MacGyver. Less wattage 850 vs 1000. Takes longer to get used to previous settings. Oh, Clear button seems smaller and not logically placed. But that is design.

Overall Review: I guess I had expectations from previous year 1999 Sharp Carousel that was flawless. I opted for stainless but funny, prints and food are too obvious. Disappointed no charcoal filter (I don't vent out). Part is about $14 w/sh on net (more or less). Otherwise, its a microwave/convection oven that is over my range.

Incompatible booting Apple products

Team X101 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Silver) Model TX101364GS01
Team X101 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Silver) Model TX101364GS01

Pros: Aluminum, slim but still won't fit alongside occupied USB port. Has lanyard loop. Red LED visible through smoked lanyard loop. Previous Team X101 worked as a bootable USB drive to troubleshoot Mac products.

Cons: Having issue compared to previous Team X101 in blue (Newegg not stock this or other 64GB) This will mount on later model Macbookpro/iMac but will not boot. GUID formatted, partitioned. Installed OS, utility drive. Older blue X101 works but not this later, silver model (different p/n). System profiler shows different vendor IDs. Confirmed 4 of these we bought in April do not boot 2012 or later Apple products. Have emailed TEAM in Taiwan but... now need to find bootable 64GB USB3.0.

Overall Review: Felt the previous 64GB TEAM X101 was fine. But something changed with this one. It will mount, but not boot Apple on USB 3.0 ports. Update: something is with this drive's chipset. Compared to previous 64GB TEAM X101 in blue, all 4 Silver do the same thing. Any suggest a USB 3.0 that boots a Mac with USB 3.0 in 64gb that isn't wide, fat, rubber or fugly looking? Thanks.

So much...to lose. I hope not.

WD Se WD4000F9YZ 4TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Datacenter Capacity HDD Bare Drive
WD Se WD4000F9YZ 4TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Datacenter Capacity HDD Bare Drive

Pros: 4TB. Under $300. Wow. Fast and seems ok so far. It is inside a new Apple Time Capsule. Don't ask.

Cons: None so far. Likely drop in price after I write this...

Overall Review: FYI, I bought a 2TB Airport Extreme Time Capsule last month. I bought this to install, and after a day of a zero'd format, I took Time Capsule apart and after some clever xacto knife work to the Apple silicone, I fit the 4TB inside the tallish router-backup. Now TimeMachine uses it daily. You can hear it "muted" but I know when it is running. 24/7. Since Apple doesn't offer a 4TB model yet... I suspect it was not a financial plus...

8GB USB 3.0 key ... reliable enough

ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY
ADATA Value-Driven S102 Pro Effortless Upgrade 8GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Gray) Model AS102P-8G-RGY

Pros: Reliable. Fast enough. I use these for making bootable drives (LiveCD, disinfecting PCs and for ASD drives...if ya gotta ask, I won't tell) Cheap.

Cons: No indication of read/writing. No LED. Who cares about the cap? I need feedback or indication other then mounted (think using more than one) on desktop. Oh well.

Overall Review: Adata has been hit or miss with me. I bought these for testing and for giving out.

Tough but clunky

CORSAIR 16GB Flash Survivor Ultra Rugged USB 2.0 Drive Model CMFUSBSRVR-16GB
CORSAIR 16GB Flash Survivor Ultra Rugged USB 2.0 Drive Model CMFUSBSRVR-16GB

Pros: -Solid performance -Durable -No comparison to other products (none like it). -Decent read/writes, average. -Water-resistant to 200m -No "invasive" software onboard (see U3 of Sandisk)

Cons: -Cheap, gimmicky dogtag and chain -Corsair Label peels off after 3 months -Shock seal collar came loose after one month -Not ReadyBoost or fast at reads/writes compared to others -Wider than most drives

Overall Review: This drive has been my workhorse for over 6 months. I've ALL the Mac OS X updates for 10.5 on it and still room for Windows updates. I would have given it a 5 of 5 if Corsair would have chosen a wire/fabric loop/lanyard than the clever-but cheap dogtag pullchain gimmick. The "shock" collar around the USB sleeve works its way off, so dab some silicone in there and slide it back-done. It isn't light compared to other USB drives, so you'll know it is in your pants ;) Includes a short USB extension because it is thicker to clear nearby ports

Inexpensive. Unreliable. Non-swappable.

Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD Smart Pro Digital 1500VA 900W, 8 Outlets, Line Interactive UPS
Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD Smart Pro Digital 1500VA 900W, 8 Outlets, Line Interactive UPS

Pros: Price. 6 regular spaced outlets and 2 for "wall warts". Dimmable display.

Cons: Can't replace batteries. No failure/trip indicator. Rackmounting hardware doesn't fit correctly. No cooling.

Overall Review: This is junk. The unit shutdown once, a few months ago. And now died. No surge. No storm. Dead. I suspect the internal (non-user replaceable) batteries failed (some indication would be nice...like REPLACE BATT) but for the unit to die? No power to outlets, no bypass. I do NOT recommend. Breaker is fine. Internal fuse are fine. I bought this unit over an APC as this was for home AV center. You know, keep the stereo and Xbox going if a spike, surge or power outtage hit. But APC, as reliable as I know, was too loud (designed for data centers, not dens). So I found this TrippLite Smart1500LCD. Worked for one year. I opened it up and found two CPS1290 batteries (which I am going to see if they are the cause). Again, you get what you pay for.
